Job Description: L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Technical Writer with strong technical-writing expertise and broad project-management knowledge. The successful candidate will plan, develop, and deliver technical documentation—including operations and maintenance manuals, user guides, and instructional materials—for print, multimedia, and web-based publication.

This role requires the ability to manage complex projects or processes with general oversight; collaborate and communicate across functional boundaries to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures; and maintain exceptional organization, attention to detail, and focus while completing complex assignments.

Essential Functions: •    Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including development teams, product managers, and subject matter experts—to gather information and understand complex technical concepts. •    Develop, organize, and deliver technical information, including user guides, training materials, installation manuals, and procedures, for technical and non-technical users in structured-markup and unstructured Word environments. •    Interpret technical drawings and convert technical information into clear, accurate, easy-to-follow procedures. •    Communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately; ask effective questions to confirm technical accuracy and completeness. •    Identify and resolve documentation gaps through independent research, stakeholder interviews, and hands-on exploration of equipment and systems. •    Develop a practical understanding of the technologies and products being documented; learn new technologies quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. •    Review documentation for style, design, layout, technical accuracy, completeness, and editorial quality. •    Establish and maintain measurable documentation standards across the technical-writing team to promote accuracy, clarity, consistency, and quality. •    Ensure adherence to documentation best practices and approved style guides, maintaining a consistent tone, structure, and format across all deliverables. •    Manage assigned tasks, priorities, and information flow using collaboration and project-management tools, such as Jira and Confluence. •    Proactively coordinate with development teams to ensure documentation is updated promptly to reflect equipment changes, enhancements, and revisions. •    Stay current with technical-documentation standards, tools, and industry trends; recommend process improvements and new approaches that enhance documentation quality and efficiency. •    Use advanced Excel capabilities—including formulas, functions, VBA, and macros—to support documentation tracking, analysis, reporting, or process automation, as required. •    Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage complex projects.

Qualifications: •    Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience •    Active TS/SCI with CI Poly

Preferred Additional Skills: •    Comfortable with creating documentation in Dreamweaver, Confluence, FrameMaker, etc. •    Experience working with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) •    Experience creating companion information such as illustrations using photography or illustration software (Photoshop) or flowcharts/graphs using Visio •    Experience in training curriculum development •    Understanding of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
