How you'll Contribute
A Certified Pharmacy Technician who excels in this role:
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
- Fills medication carts on a daily basis.
- Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.
- Repackages bulk medications.
- Assists the pharmacist in providing distributive pharmacy services and support.
- Maintains accurate medication handling and inventory practices.
- Supports safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
What we're looking for
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Proof of current CPhT standing and Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Registration required.
- Successful completion of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technician (ICPT) national certification examination required within six months of hire or transfer.
Experience
- Institutional pharmacy or medical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Reads and writes basic English with the skills necessary to accurately transcribe physician orders.
- Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to the needs of patients, families, and internal and external partners.
- Ability to work effectively under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of universal precautions and isolation standards.
- Basic computer skills.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
