Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. The Opportunity

The Senior Specialist - Cyber Security position at Ally is a member of the Information Protection and Risk Management team and works closely with other members of the IPRM program to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to the management of security risks at Ally. Works within the IT Department to deploy, sustain and monitor technical controls and tools to meet specific application security requirements, and defines processes and standards to ensure that security configurations and tools are maintained. This is a mid-level to senior-level position that will report to either a Manager or Director of Cyber Security.

The Work Itself

  • Oversees and assists in supporting technologies used by the security program for the assessment and scanning of applications, identifying weaknesses and vulnerabilities and communicating with application owners on required remediation activities.
  • Serves as the domain expert in the operation of application scanning tools to assess applications for security risks.
  • Lead penetration testing and ethical hacking efforts.
  • Works with application development and information security leadership to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and to identify and address risks.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with technology and business leads on the investigation and resolution of reported vulnerabilities and standards non-compliance; aids in development of remediation planning to ensure risks are being adequately mitigated.
  • Researches and assesses new threats and security alerts, and recommends remedial actions.
  • Monitors testing/scanning results and remediation activities to ensure organization is making progress on risk reduction.
  • Escalates where required.
  • Provides second and third level support and analysis during and after a security incident.
  • Assists system administrators, application sustain teams, and CSIRT team members in the review and resolution of reported security incidents.
  • Participates in security investigations and compliance reviews, as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Provides monthly and quarterly risk and metric reporting.
  • Collaborates on critical IT projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Oversees and assists in supporting technologies used by the security program for the monitoring of the controls environment at Ally, and for assessment of weaknesses and vulnerabilities within Ally's technology infrastructure.
  • Coordinates scanning policies and schedules with business and operations teams.
  • Ensures all appropriate change control tickets are entered and back-out plans are cleared with business and IT partners.
  • Oversees defining testing criteria for systems and applications.
  • Responsible for analyzing the results of audits related to control weaknesses, to produce recommendations on whether risk should be accepted, or remediated prior to placing systems/applications into the production environment.

The Qualifications We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of IT experience with at least 1-2 years of focus in Information Security preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or relevant field of study preferred.
  • CISSP strongly preferred.
  • Experience with application security testing tools and services.
  • Experience with network penetration testing techniques and tools.
  • Strong data analysis skills using standard office tools are required.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are required.
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels across the organization and to comprehend business imperatives.
  • In depth technical knowledge.

Base Pay Range

$85,000.00 - $150,000.00 An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation:

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
