About the job

Corporate Accounting and Close Management Establish and maintain a documented responsibility framework for corporate accounting processes, including preparer, reviewer, approver, account owner, data provider, and escalation responsibilities across Corporate Accounting, Global Business Services, regional finance teams, and corporate functions. These corporate accounting activities and corporate ledger processes will be for monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, and period-end analytics. Coordinate corporate close activities, milestones, dependencies, submission requirements, and issue escalation in alignment with the companywide close calendar. Ensure corporate accounts are reconciled timely, reconciling items are investigated and resolved, and aged, unusual, or unsupported balances are escalated with clear owners and action plans. Review corporate balance sheet and income statement activity, including period-over-period analytics, unusual items, classification matters, and completeness of required entries. Manage recurring corporate accruals, allocations, recharges, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intangible assets, debt-related accounting support, and other corporate-level accounts assigned to the function. Maintain clear ownership, documentation, and review standards for top-side, post-close, and corporate entries within the role's scope. Provide reliable corporate accounting information and schedules to support consolidated reporting, legal entity reporting, statutory reporting, management reporting, and external reporting requirements. Manage accounting for corporate-level transactions and allocations within the role's scope, coordinating with Technical Accounting when transactions require formal accounting conclusions, policy interpretation, or significant judgment. Support transition-service exit activities, separation of legacy accounting processes, opening-balance validation, legal-entity and ledger readiness, data migration, cutover planning, and stabilization of the future-state corporate accounting operating model. Partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, Global Business Services, regional controllers, and other corporate functions to ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate legal entity, period, account, cost center, and reporting hierarchy. Support accounting for corporate restructuring activities, legal entity changes, financing activities, dividends, investments, shared service arrangements, and other transactions affecting corporate entities, as assigned. Coordinate accounting requirements for corporate agreements, service arrangements, allocations, settlements, and cross-functional initiatives, with appropriate documentation and stakeholder alignment. Evaluate accounting process impacts arising from acquisitions, carve-outs, separations, integrations, and organizational changes, and support implementation of approved accounting conclusions. Prepare clear issue summaries, accounting analyses, and decision materials for the Director, Accounting and senior accounting and finance leadership. Establish and maintain standards for corporate account ownership, reconciliation frequency, supporting documentation, reviewer evidence, aging, and resolution of reconciling items. Coordinate with the intercompany accounting team to resolve corporate counterparty differences, ensure accurate settlement support, and facilitate elimination of reciprocal corporate balances. Support implementation of the Global Coffee Company consolidation and close environment by defining corporate accounting requirements, participating in testing, documenting procedures, and supporting user readiness. Support the establishment and operation of corporate accounting processes appropriate for a newly independent U.S. public company, including accelerated close requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley control execution, audit-ready documentation, disclosure support, management certification processes, and disciplined issue escalation. Manage and continuously improve internal controls over corporate accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, close management, master data, system changes, and financial reporting activities within the role's scope. Ensure procedures and controls are appropriately designed, documented, and operating effectively, with timely remediation of identified deficiencies and sustainable corrective actions. Prepare, review, and explain corporate accounting schedules requested for quarterly reviews, annual audits, internal audit procedures, and other assurance activities. Process Improvement and Transformation Develop and execute a roadmap to standardize, simplify, automate, and strengthen corporate accounting processes across the global organization. Establish meaningful close, quality, service, and control metrics and use those metrics to identify trends, define priorities, and drive continuous improvement. Build strong relationships with regional and business unit controllers, Global Business Services, External Reporting, Technical Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, IT, Internal Audit, Legal, and other stakeholders. Communicate close status, key judgments, financial statement impacts, unresolved issues, risks, and required actions clearly and timely. Provide accounting guidance, process support, and training to corporate functions and finance teams on corporate accounting requirements and close expectations. Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as directed by accounting and finance leadership. Lead, develop, and engage accounting professionals responsible for corporate accounting and related close processes, with responsibilities refined based on the final operating model. Establish clear goals, accountability, service expectations, and development priorities through regular conversations, one-on-one discussions, performance reviews, and talent processes. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and career development while building a culture of trust, collaboration, wellbeing, continuous improvement, and high performance. Influence cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams through clear governance, disciplined follow-through, and effective stakeholder management. Build organizational capability, process resilience, and succession depth for critical corporate accounting responsibilities. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Active CPA license required. 8+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, including significant experience with corporate accounting, financial close, account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet management, and internal controls. Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP, corporate accounting processes, legal entity accounting, financial statements, internal controls, and enterprise financial systems. Prior experience leading, managing, and developing accounting professionals and influencing teams across functions or geographies. Experience operating in a complex, multinational, and deadline-driven environment. Experience with a public accounting firm and additional experience with a large accelerated SEC filer, Fortune 500 company, or large multinational organization. Experience in consumer products, CPG, food, retail, coffee, beverage, or related industries. Experience with SAP and corporate general ledger processes in a multi-entity environment. Experience with BlackLine, Trintech, or comparable account reconciliation and close management tools. Experience supporting external reporting, statutory reporting, global shared services, finance transformation, and enterprise system implementations. Working knowledge of IFRS and international statutory reporting considerations. Experience supporting acquisitions, carve-outs, separations, integrations, or major organizational transformations. Strong understanding of accounting relationships across the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, equity, and legal entity reporting. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and an ability to identify issues within complex financial data. Organized, project-minded approach to scheduling, coordinating, and executing close and reporting processes. Strong presence and the ability to communicate complex accounting and process matters clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. Proven ability to lead change, manage organizational transitions, and translate objectives into disciplined execution. Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and coaching abilities. Advanced proficiency with Excel and strong competency with PowerPoint and enterprise financial systems. Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment, accept and incorporate feedback, prioritize competing demands, and operate effectively under tight deadlines. Hands-on leadership style with a commitment to accuracy, accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
