Job Summary

The Purchasing Agent will research, evaluate, and procure raw materials, hardware, outsourced services, and MRO supplies to safely manufacture our customers’ products on schedule, within accepted quality standards and within established cost & inventory objectives. The ideal candidate is astute, analytical and has familiarity with steel and fabrications.

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Job Function

  • Research, evaluate and procure products and services to meet our operational needs.
  • Believes in, supports, and represents GHMS Core Values, Vision and Mission on a daily basis.
  • Assist with cultivating new sources for supplies, and products using criteria such as quantity, quality, price and delivery.
  • Ensures that goods and services purchased meet specified conditions and acceptable standards.
  • Collaborating on IT solutions for more effective ways to analyze demand and forecast.
  • Monitoring and optimizing inventory levels (raw and hardware) by collaborating with suppliers, commercial and production teams.
  • Work with suppliers to establish stocking levels and/or blanket PO’s based on firm and forecasted demand.
  • Coordinate and schedule deliveries of product to minimize cost while maintaining schedule requirements.
  • Working with suppliers to ensure accurate and prompt action on rejections or claims.
  • Identifies and recommends changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree related to Operations   Management, Engineering, Business Management, metal forming, cutting, or machining or 7 years’ equivalent experience.
  • A high-level understanding of metal fabrication and/or stamping processes and systems is required.
  • Previous production or leadership experience required.
  • Experience with MIE Trak or similar ERP software, including implementation.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Extreme attention to detail and timely follow-up is required to ensure success.
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner.
