Purchasing Assistant/ Clerk 1st Shift

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for performing general clerical duties including order data entry and accurate record maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Perform clerical function related to the processing of orders, ensuring the timely acquisition of supplies, equipment and materials
• Complete order entry into purchasing management software including preparing purchase requisitions, generating purchase orders, obtain price quotes when needed, etc.;
• Monitor and track purchase orders; contact suppliers for late or missing orders when needed
• Prepare purchasing reports as requested ensuring data reported is accurate and up-to-date
• Assist with monthly inventory
• All other relevant duties as requested by supervisor or manager

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a clerical position
• Ability to communicate (both speak and write) and comprehend English fluently
• Ability to fluently communicate both internally and externally in a timely and professional manner
• Must have proficient computer and math skills
• Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment when needed and the ability to effectively multi-task
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize to complete tasks while maintaining attention to detail
• Must be able to work unsupervised to complete all tasks

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow all departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift 20 lbs frequently and 40 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to frequently move about the facility
