Position Summary

The General Foreman is a safety-focused professional who leads multiple crews in constructing and repairing electrical underground distribution systems. You will ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule through effective planning, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to meeting company and crew objectives, while providing excellent customer service to employees and customers alike. You may be required to travel to different job sites, including out-of-state locations, based on operational and customer needs. You will report to the Area Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee multiple crews performing new construction, maintenance, and repairs on energized and de-energized underground distribution systems, always putting safety first.

  • Verify that foremen are effectively leading their crew members and conducting pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.

  • Build safe and efficient work plans for multiple crews.

  • Oversee work on each project and assume full responsibility for its quality and on-time completion.

  • Ensure that all crews follow safety protocols, including proper PPE use, and maintain a thorough understanding of insulated protective covers used to isolate differences in potential.

  • Possess strong leadership and management skills, along with a thorough understanding of crew management and line work.

  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and tools are properly maintained and efficiently utilized.

  • Comply with reporting procedures and complete all required paperwork.

  • Train, mentor, and develop foremen and crew members to strengthen technical skills and safety leadership.

  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of recent field experience.

  • Proficient in basic computer operations, including Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.

  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within overhead distribution construction.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you will be required to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate. The role frequently requires standing, walking, and observing crews, as well as coaching crew members and documenting findings.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
