We’re hiring a Lead AWS Cloud Engineer for a fully remote contract-to-hire opportunity supporting an enterprise cloud team. The role is focused on hands-on AWS cloud engineering, automation, infrastructure, and SRE-style work across AWS environments, including CloudFormation, IAM, AWS SSM, cloud networking, scripting, backups, disaster recovery, and observability. Candidates must be able to support EST hours.
You’ll be joining a leading specialty insurance company that provides property, casualty, and specialty insurance solutions to businesses and individuals. This is a great opportunity for a senior cloud engineer who wants to stay hands-on in ****AWS while working on enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure, automation, reliability, and modernization. You’ll have the opportunity to make an impact across a large cloud environment, work alongside an experienced cloud engineering team, and grow into a long-term role with the potential to convert to full-time all while working fully remote.
Contract Duration: 6 – 12 Months
Required Skills & Experience
· Lead-level AWS Cloud Engineering experience
· Strong AWS design and hands-on development/engineering experience
· Python, PowerShell, Bash/Shell scripting
· AWS IAM, including permission sets, policies, trust relationships, and SCPs
· Windows and Linux server administration/troubleshooting
· AWS Systems Manager (SSM) automation and patch management
· AWS centralized backup solutions
· AWS cloud networking
· Infrastructure as Code with CloudFormation
· Experience with cloud observability, preferably Dynatrace
· Cloud cost management
· Disaster recovery implementation and support
· Familiarity with AI technologies
· Ability to support EST business hours
Desired Skills & Experience
· AWS certifications
· GCP or Azure
· Terraform
· GitLab / CI/CD
· APIM platforms such as Gravitee, Apigee, Kong, or MuleSoft
· .NET or Java development
· MSSQL or PostgreSQL
· Kubernetes
