Department 428, COLUMBIA Electrical Systems, is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Supervisor to lead the Monitoring and Control Systems group.

The Monitoring and Control Systems Group is a COLUMBIA Program dedicated team responsible for the development of the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Monitoring and Control (HMC) system, the Fire Detection System (FDS) and the Integrated Communication System (ICS).

The HMC system consolidates numerous non-propulsion interior communication circuits and functions into a single, distributed, network-based system design.

The FDS is a stand-alone system to identify the existence and location of fire through the detection of smoke and heat throughout the ship.

The ICS generates, controls, and distributes interior voice communications between individual stations, groups of stations, amplified announcements and ship’s casualty alarms.

Responsibilities:

  • Ship Specification, hardware and interface requirement specifications

  • Procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work

  • Subcontractor management, system test procedures and reports, obsolescence management

  • Electrical disclosure development and change management including cabling diagrams, wiring tables and cable routing

  • Electrical cableway disclosure change management

  • Shipboard construction supports Quonset Point, Groton and remote focus factories

  • Support to operations management and lead foreman

  • Shipboard integration testing and troubleshooting, support to Shipboard Testing Organization

  • Driving results in safety, technical quality, cost and schedule performance

  • Supporting employee professional development and preservation of critical technical skills and knowledge

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years of engineering related post-graduate experience including construction

  • Prior experience leading groups or teams

Preferred:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering

  • Previous experience in a lead-type or supervisory role

  • Experience working with suppliers/subcontractors

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills
