About the job
You’re more valuable than ever – And that’s just how we’ll make you feel.
Job Summary
The Quality Engineer plays a key role in the Company’s transition from traditional quality assurance
to a modern Quality Engineering model while retaining a strong foundation in hands-on manual
testing. The Quality Engineer will help build quality into the software development lifecycle by
partnering early with product, engineering, operations, clinical, and support stakeholders to
identify risk, clarify requirements, shape testability, execute thoughtful manual validation, expand
automation where appropriate, and improve release confidence before changes reach production.
Success in this role requires the ability to learn quickly, think critically, communicate clearly, speak
up when something does not make sense, connect details across systems and processes, become a
trusted expert on how the solution works, advocate for the end user, and validate whether software
truly supports the intended business outcome, not only whether it satisfies the written acceptance
criteria. The Quality Engineer must be technically capable, quality-driven, collaborative, and
committed to understanding the business, the workflows, and the purpose behind the applications
they support.
Qualifications
Education Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare
Informatics, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Work Experience Required:
• 3+ years of hands-on experience performing manual, exploratory, regression, integration,
API, web-based, mobile, or enterprise application testing, or equivalent demonstrated
ability through software quality, engineering, automation, support, or technical product
work.
• Demonstrated ability to create thoughtful test plans, execute detailed manual validation, ask
strong questions, connect business context to technical behavior, identify risk early, validate
end-to-end workflows, and explain defects clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
• Experience with, or strong interest in growing into, quality engineering practices such as
test case management, test automation, API validation, CI/CD quality gates, accessibility and
ADA-informed testing, cross-browser validation, regression strategy, observability, and
production defect prevention.
• Experience partnering throughout the full software development lifecycle to influence
quality up front, clarify requirements, assess testability, surface risks before development is
complete, and support informed go/no-go production readiness decisions.
• Experience working within agile delivery teams using common planning, sprint, test
management, pipeline, and cross-browser testing tools to support story refinement, sprint
execution, test coverage, release readiness, and continuous delivery practices
Preferred Qualifications, Education, Licenses, Certifications, Experience, etc.:
• Healthcare technology experience preferred, including familiarity with urgent care
workflows, patient registration, electronic medical records, HL7 integrations, Epic,
eClinicalWorks, payment workflows, or revenue cycle processes.
• Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, QMetry, BrowserStack, or comparable
platforms is preferred, with emphasis on applying the right quality practices rather than
relying on a specific toolset.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards, ADA considerations, inclusive design principles,
and practical validation of accessible user experiences across web and mobile applications
preferred.
• Quality engineering, automation, accessibility, cloud, healthcare technology, or securityrelated certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• This role involves interaction and collaboration with other departments and requires
excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.
• Professional Judgment and Quality Advocacy: Uses sound judgment, curiosity, and
critical thinking to understand system behavior, assess business impact, identify risks early,
and promote high-quality outcomes across cross-functional teams.
• Business Process Understanding: Quickly develops an understanding of complex business
processes, recognizes workflow impacts, and explains expected system behavior in
practical, real-world terms.
• Professional Communication: Asks thoughtful questions, raises concerns constructively,
challenges assumptions respectfully, and builds productive partnerships to support qualityfocused decision-making.
• Business and Systems Understanding: Develops working knowledge of GoHealth’s
business model, operational workflows, product behavior, integrations, and user needs to
validate the purpose and impact of application changes.
• End-User Advocacy: Evaluates software against practical workflows and use cases for
patients, providers, center staff, operations, and support teams.
• Quality Engineering Mindset: Improves testability and validates beyond the happy path
across edge cases, exceptions, integrations, and operational scenarios.
• Technical and Automation Capability: Applies automation, API testing, test data analysis,
logs, repeatable checks, test management practices, pipeline quality gates, and crossbrowser validation to improve speed, coverage, and confidence.
• Accessibility Awareness: Applies ADA-informed and accessibility testing practices to
support usable, inclusive digital experiences.
• Team-Oriented Quality Ownership: Treats quality as a shared responsibility by
partnering to prevent defects, resolve issues, improve processes, and support successful
delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports scalable quality practices across product engineering delivery teams by improving
validation methods, identifying risks early, strengthening supporting release readiness, and
building practical understanding of the products and workflows they support.
• Design, document, execute, and maintain manual, exploratory, regression, integration, endto-end, and risk-based test cases for web, mobile, API, integration, and back-end services.
• Develop and maintain repeatable testing approaches, including automation where
appropriate, to support sprint delivery, regression coverage, release readiness, and
production quality.
• Partner with product owners, software engineers, operations, clinical stakeholders, and
support teams to clarify requirements, assess risk, improve testability, investigate defects,
validate fixes, and strengthen quality controls before release.
• Validate key urgent care workflows, including patient registration, insurance capture,
payments, EMR integration, messaging, operational tools, and related digital products.
• Evaluate product changes against real operational workflows, end-user needs, and business
outcomes, identifying gaps where functionality may satisfy written requirements but not
practical use.
• Build solution expertise to explain how features, data, integrations, and workflows operate
and where defects, design gaps, or missed edge cases may create downstream impact.
• Perform API, accessibility, ADA-informed, cross-browser, integration, regression, smoke,
exploratory, and end-to-end testing using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Use agile planning, sprint management, test case management, pipeline, and cross-browser
testing platforms to organize work, maintain traceability, monitor coverage, and support
release decisions.
• Contribute to quality gates, release validation, defect trend analysis, root cause analysis, test
coverage reporting, and other metrics that support continuous improvement.
• Support production readiness by validating critical workflows, communicating risk clearly,
confirming defects are resolved as intended, and helping teams determine deployment
readiness.
• Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual validation, improve test coverage,
strengthen documentation, and make quality practices easier for engineering teams to
adopt.
• Manage the support ticket queue by analyzing issues that arise, providing clear support to
end users, and participating in on-call and off-hours coverage as needed to support releases,
production validation, and critical quality support needs.
