Apple Fitness Technologies & Experiences supports that vision through numerous products, including Fitness+, a digital service designed to enrich the lives of our customers through a broad and inclusive range of bespoke exercise, meditation, and audio content.
The multidisciplinary Media Technologies engineering team supports the day-to-day operations of a state-of-the-art 4K multi-camera production studio, a purpose-built post-production audio facility, various remote productions, and research and development on new content workflows. The team's expertise spans high-volume, file-based workflows, broadcast video, lighting, robotic cameras, audio, systems, storage, and network engineering.
The Media Technologies engineering team is seeking a Studio Pipeline Engineer to support the software and automation behind our studio, post-production, and delivery pipelines. The role ranges from hands-on workflow support to architecting and deploying new workflow automation, and requires hands-on experience with modern, highly automated production asset management (PAM)/media asset management (MAM) systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive support to the production and post-production teams as requests arise
- Configure and extend pipeline automation and workflows on the PAM platform
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and expand the PAM platform across integrations with Fibre Channel SAN storage and other studio systems
- Support software applications running on macOS, Linux, and Windows
- Coordinate with third-party vendors on PAM platform development and support
- Prioritize unplanned requests while delivering planned projects on schedule, keeping the studio and its production pipeline running smoothly
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of work experience supporting, troubleshooting, or configuring modern PAM/MAM systems
- Experience in technical support for live broadcast, live-streaming, or post-production environments
- Strong general software fundamentals: command-line proficiency, Git version control, and scripting or development in TypeScript or Python
- Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting macOS, Linux, and Windows
- Working understanding of state-machine-based workflow design, including job and task lifecycles and how automated systems trigger, queue, and recover work
- Experience integrating with or troubleshooting systems through APIs and other interfaces
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative problem-solver who thrives in high-demand, fast-paced environments, sharing expertise in core areas while learning from colleagues in other areas
- Ability to prioritize competing projects and unplanned requests, and to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to be onsite daily for this in-person position
- Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts, as business needs require
- Some travel may be required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and to perform physical tasks such as installing rack-mounted equipment and pulling and routing cable, with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Open Directory and SAML-based single sign-on services
- Familiarity with structured content and status metadata for workflow automation, content metadata management, and delivery
- Experience with virtualization platforms, including provisioning, administering, and troubleshooting Linux virtual machines
- Proficiency creating and modifying workflow diagrams, technical drawings, user guides, or other system documentation
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting systems in public or private cloud environments, including hybrid and multi-region approaches
- Ability to terminate, install, and test video, audio, Ethernet, fiber optic, and control cabling
