We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?
Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.
The Opportunity
At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
This Analyst role is part of the Invest Analytics team, a key pillar of Ally's broader Invest & Deposits Analytics organization. You will work directly with raw Ally Invest brokerage data, including accounts, money movement, and trading activity, and turn it into insight that shapes product, marketing, operations, and strategy decisions.
In this position, you will monitor Invest performance, explore customer behavior, and recommend enhancements based on sound analysis. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to collaborate with Invest partners, the broader analytics organization, and technical teams in a fast-moving environment.
The Work Itself
In this role you will help us make data-driven decisions by:
- Work with business partners to evaluate Ally Invest performance and profitability, define appropriate metrics, research changes in trends, and perform ad hoc analysis of high-priority topics.
- Use SQL and other analytical tools to monitor product performance, explore customer behavior, investigate trends, and translate findings into clear business insights and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting that provide stakeholders with accurate, timely, and intuitive views of key business metrics.
- Engage with partners across marketing, trading, operations, digital, finance, product, and other functions to solve business questions with data and insights.
- Partner with engineering, data management, and reporting teams to improve data availability, accuracy, and reliability for business analysis.
- Apply structured and creative problem-solving to open-ended requests and new initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of emerging analytics practices, technologies, and market trends while continuing to develop technical and business knowledge.
- Apply AI-enabled analytics tools, including Snowflake CoCo and Microsoft Copilot, to accelerate analysis, improve productivity, and support responsible business use cases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of related hands-on experience in data analysis, product analytics, marketing analytics, business intelligence, or quantitative analysis.
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience working with large datasets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience developing dashboards or reports using Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform.
- Ability to turn business questions into analysis, communicate the story behind the numbers, and recommend practical business solutions.
- Proficiency in data visualization and data storytelling best practices.
- Ability to investigate new datasets, perform data wrangling, and apply appropriate statistical or quantitative techniques.
- Self-motivated and able to manage defined assignments while seeking guidance and clarification when needed in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships across business and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Python or R.
- Experience in brokerage, advisory, or financial services.
