About the job

Zions Bancorporation’s Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) team is transforming what it means to work for a financial institution. With a commitment to technology and innovation, we have been providing our community, clients, and colleagues with the best experience possible for over 150 years. Help us transform our workforce of the future, today.

We are seeking an Application Development & Integration Manager – Core Banking (BaNCS) to join Zions Bancorporation. In this high-visibility leadership position, you will play a strategic role in directing the engineering, vendor partner development, and operational stability of our mission-critical TCS BaNCS core banking platform and surrounding application ecosystem. You will champion delivery excellence, elevate quality assurance standards, and streamline release processes across cross-functional teams and strategic partners. By driving technical modernization, establishing modern observability practices, and fostering internal customer satisfaction, you will directly shape how Zions Bancorporation delivers reliable, resilient, and next-generation banking services to our clients and communities.

The Application Development & Integration Manager will:

  • Direct and oversee the end-to-end application lifecycle, ongoing maintenance, feature development, and modernization initiatives for the TCS BaNCS core banking platform and its integrated peripheral applications.
  • Manage strategic vendor development partners, establishing performance metrics, ensuring contract deliverables, and holding external teams accountable to strict engineering standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure high-quality standards and optimized engineering processes by overseeing Quality Assurance (QA) initiatives—including automated regression testing and test environment management—to maximize platform stability, minimize production disruptions, and accelerate speed to delivery.
  • Implement operational best practices, Agile/DevOps adoption, and continuous improvement frameworks to streamline software release cadences, reduce technical debt, and establish a high-performing engineering culture.
  • Collaborate closely with lines of business, branch operations, and enterprise architecture stakeholders to maintain high internal customer satisfaction, prioritize backlogs, and translate complex banking requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Monitor critical core platform KPIs, availability metrics, and service-level objectives (SLOs) to ensure highly available, reliable operations that adhere to audit and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive a proactive culture of system health by implementing comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks across the core banking ecosystem.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance for platform integrations, system upgrades, and technology policy exception management in accordance with enterprise risk and InfoSec standards.
  • Mentor and lead technical leads, developers, and QA engineers, fostering a culture of technical innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical work experience) and 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, application development, or core systems delivery within banking or financial services.
  • Cloud Development & Engineering Best Practices: Proven experience driving modern engineering standards (including clean code, architectural patterns, and security-first development) and designing/migrating applications within cloud environments (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Leadership & Vendor Management: 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and overseeing external vendor development partners and managed service agreements.
  • Core Banking Expertise: Demonstrated operational experience with core banking architectures, with hands-on familiarity in TCS BaNCS strongly preferred (or comparable enterprise core platforms such as FIS or Fiserv).
  • Quality Assurance & Stability: Proven track record of defining and overseeing QA frameworks, automated testing pipelines, and environment management to safeguard production stability.
  • Process & Delivery Optimization: Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum delivery models, CI/CD toolchains, and incident/release management practices.
  • Stakeholder & Business Alignment: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to partner with executive leaders, manage client expectations, and champion the customer experience.
  • Compliance & Risk Awareness: Thorough understanding of financial industry governance, data privacy, and IT risk mitigation standards.

This position is currently not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
