About the job

Job Description A leading insurance and financial services organization is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI agents that solve complex business problems at scale. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on transforming high-value insurance workflows through agentic AI, large language models, and modern cloud-native development practices.

The ideal candidate combines strong Python software engineering skills with practical experience building and operating LLM-powered applications in production. You will work closely with architects, product stakeholders, and business experts to develop intelligent automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and customer outcomes.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite in the Greater Boston area. Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field with 7+ years of software engineering, machine learning, or data engineering experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications used by real users in production environments
  • Proven experience developing at least one agentic AI solution involving tool calling, orchestration, or multi-step autonomous workflows
  • Strong Python development skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with API integration, automated testing, version control, debugging, and resilient application design
  • Hands-on experience with an agent framework or SDK, preferably LangGraph
  • Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems, tools, and external services
  • Familiarity with major model APIs or managed AI platforms such as Amazon Bedrock
  • Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI applications, including benchmark datasets, regression testing, metrics, and model-based evaluation techniques
  • Understanding of AI security, governance, reliability risks, and responsible deployment practices
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges with minimal supervision

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Insurance industry experience, particularly within underwriting or claims operations
  • Experience deploying AI solutions in AWS environments
  • Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), context engineering, and structured outputs
  • Experience working with Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations
  • Background in containerization and CI/CD implementation
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing engineering standards across teams
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

  • 100% Hands-On Engineering
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI agents and multi-step agent workflows that support complex insurance operations
  • Build reusable frameworks, services, and engineering patterns to accelerate future AI initiatives
  • Convert business and architectural concepts into scalable production solutions
  • Evaluate when to use deterministic logic, traditional machine learning, generative AI, or agentic architectures based on cost, risk, and reliability considerations
  • Develop backend agent services using modern frameworks such as FastAPI
  • Integrate AI solutions with enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and external tools
  • Establish testing strategies, evaluation datasets, and quality metrics for agent performance
  • Implement observability, audit logging, monitoring, cost management, and operational guardrails
  • Build lightweight prototypes and proof-of-concept applications to validate business value
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to measure and communicate solution effectiveness
  • Support cloud deployment, containerization, and continuous delivery initiatives

The Offer

  • Base Salary: $140,000 - $191,000
  • Potential eligibility for annual bonus and performance-based incentives
  • Hybrid work schedule with 3 days onsite weekly in the Boston area
  • Opportunity to build enterprise-scale AI solutions with measurable business impact
  • Career development, learning, and advancement opportunities
