Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Commercial ETO Engineer to join the team. This role can be based at the Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY sites.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.

What you’ll do:
The primary responsibility of the Commercial ETO Engineer is leading, planning and executing custom engineering projects. This role will ensure deadlines are met to support our customers with accurate results within financial guidelines. The Commercial ETO Engineer must have a demonstrated ability to lead projects from start to finish and engage the team to ensure goals are achieved. This position will define and help acquire resources by coordinating the efforts of team members plus third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. This role will provide the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and Operations. Participation in technical sales presentations and trainings to customers and being the company representative on industry standards and codes technical committees are among the other duties of this position. The job duties will require the candidate to have ambition, drive, leadership, and strong engineering skills, with enthusiasm in the commercial and product application/design area. This position will possess an entrepreneurial mindset along with a passion for the industry and drive to grow both personally and professionally. The Commercial ETO Engineer will help drive critical interactions with internal (Sales, Finance, IT, Marketing, Operations and Engineering) and external (manufacturing representatives, agents, distributors, OEM’s) customers to help deliver a world class level of service.
Essential Functions:

Project Management: Lead and participate in engineering projects and proposals for customers from receipt of purchase order through timely completion of project documentation. Review designs, ensure compliance to standards and coordinate PE stamps as appropriate for engineering projects. Manage projects requiring PE stamps (manage 3rd party structural engineers and interface with customers to manage project questions and required data/drawings). Create and maintain project tracking tools, help set metrics and goals, ensure timely completion. Remain knowledgeable of market trends, geographical conditions, and competitive activity and apply knowledge in preparing the data

Engineering Design: Perform engineering calculations and design application evaluations per industry codes and standards. Provide customers and end users with detailed assembly drawings, bill of materials, and layouts specific to their project. Modify standard products to accommodate custom applications.

Customer Support: Work directly with our customers to develop solutions for their needs. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with domestic and international teams.

Process Improvement: Implement lean principles to improve processes and eliminate waste, Upgrade, develop and deploy tools supporting technical services, engineering process automation, design configuration, ease-of-doing-business customer tools.

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred) or related technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years of modeling / design / applications engineering experience
- Experience with 3D Modeling software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD)

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience in a customer-facing environment
- CAD Experience (AutoCAD preferred)
- Structural analysis (RISA 3D preferred)
- Manufacturing experience with understanding of materials and processes
- SAP ERP experience
