Position Summary
The Associate Project Engineer is an entry-level engineering position designed for recent graduates seeking to develop technical, operational, and project management skills within the natural gas compression industry. This role supports engineering and business initiatives related to facilities, equipment, operations, reliability, and capital projects. The Associate Project Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to gain practical experience while contributing to projects that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering projects from concept through execution, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
- Assist with equipment evaluations, system analysis, and technical problem-solving activities.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Safety, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams on strategic initiatives.
- Participate in field visits to compression facilities and project locations to gain operational knowledge.
- Analyze operational and performance data to identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Assist in preparing project scopes, engineering reports, cost estimates, and technical presentations.
- Support safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Develop a working knowledge of compression equipment, facility design, construction, and operational practices.
- Participate in rotational assignments and special projects as determined by business needs and development objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel periodically to field locations and company facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or project experience in oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
- Familiarity with project management principles and engineering design processes.
