Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Engineering Services Senior Associate to support the integration, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of photonic, electro‑optic, and precision hardware used in critical national security programs. This role blends hands‑on laboratory work with process interpretation and cross‑team coordination. The ideal candidate has practical engineering knowledge—mechanical, electrical, optical, or multidisciplinary—and is comfortable working under moderate supervision while contributing to moderately complex assignments. You will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams, support continuous improvement, and help drive project milestones to completion in a classified environment.

Essential Functions:

• Perform hands‑on assembly, integration, and functional testing of photonic and electro‑optic subassemblies and systems per engineering drawings, work instructions, and build documentation. • Interpret and apply engineering processes, procedures, and operational guidelines to support hardware builds and troubleshooting. • Support optical, electrical, and mechanical test activities using specialized lab instrumentation (power meters, laser sources, oscilloscopes, microscopes, profilometers). • Execute fiber‑optic handling, optical alignment, bonding, soldering, and other precision tasks as required. • Identify issues within the job area, recommend process adjustments, and participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective actions. • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to communicate status, clarify technical requirements, and ensure alignment with project objectives. • Assist in developing or refining work instructions, test procedures, and documentation to improve accuracy and repeatability. • Contribute to project milestones by supporting builds, test execution, troubleshooting, and verification activities. • Maintain a clean, organized, and high‑reliability laboratory workspace.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;—OR— Graduate degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience;—OR— In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of related technical experience. • Ability to work on‑site full‑time in a classified lab environment. • Active Top Secret/SCI

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience working with precision hardware, laboratory instrumentation, or opto‑mechanical systems. • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical procedures. • Experience with photonics, electro‑optic systems, fiber handling, or optical alignment. • Experience with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies). • Troubleshooting skills for moderately complex technical issues. • Experience supporting process improvements, documentation updates, or workflow optimization. • Strong communication skills for interpreting and explaining operational processes to internal stakeholders.
