Essential Functions:
**- Under general supervision, perform structural static and dynamic analyses using classical hand-calculation methods and finite element models for flight and ground-support hardware, including structural assemblies, component installations, brackets, electromechanical assemblies, and support equipment. Seek guidance and support from senior engineers as needed for complex technical issues.
-
Evaluate hardware against internal and customer structural requirements, including strength, stiffness, vibration, shock, acoustic, and other applicable environmental requirements.
-
Support structural dynamics testing, including vibration, shock, and acoustic testing, by reviewing test data, evaluating results against requirements, and correlating results with structural-analysis models.
-
Analyze dynamic response data from launch vehicle missions, as applicable, to define environments and support structural health-monitoring activities.
-
Prepare technical analysis reports, presentations, and other engineering documentation that clearly communicate analysis methods, assumptions, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
-
Support production, manufacturing, integration, and test activities by investigating engineering change requests, build issues, and nonconformance concerns; provide structural assessments and support the development of practical resolutions.
-
Support updates to analysis documentation through notices of revision and track engineering changes through product data-management systems.
-
Work with Integrated Product Teams to complete assigned analysis work packages within established schedules and program priorities; participate in team meetings, design reviews, and program reviews.
-
Travel up to approximately 10% to support integration, test, customer, or program activities.
-
Ability to obtain US Security Clearance.**
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, and minimum 4 years of prior relevant mechanical engineering experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
**- Experience applying structural-analysis methods to structural hardware and assemblies using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis.
-
Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas: stress analysis, vehicle load-path definition, strength assessment, vibration and shock analysis, metallic structures, bolted joints, composite structures, nonconformance assessment, or structural test support.
-
Experience using finite element analysis tools, such as Patran, Femap, Nastran, or equivalent tools.
-
Experience preparing technical analysis reports and communicating analysis results to cross-functional engineering teams.
-
Experience supporting structural hardware in aerospace, defense, aviation, space, or other high-reliability applications.
-
Experience with one or more specialized structural-analysis disciplines, including fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics, or crack-growth assessment.
-
Experience supporting structural test planning, execution, data review, data reduction, or test-to-analysis correlation for vibration, shock, acoustic, modal, or static testing.
-
Experience deriving structural loads or dynamic environments from test or flight data.
-
Experience using additional finite element analysis tools, such as ANSYS, Creo Simulate, or equivalent software.
-
Experience developing engineering-analysis, data-reduction, or automation tools using Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar software.
-
Experience with one or more of the following: composite structures, bonded joints, structural optimization, or nonconformance review and disposition support.
-
Familiarity with aerospace or launch-vehicle environmental test requirements, including Military Standard 1540, Space and Missile Systems Center Standard S-016, Military Standard 810, or comparable standards.
