Introduction

The\r\nMaryland Military Department is seeking a candidate for the position of Agency Budget Specialist I. This role\r\nfollows a compressed work schedule, Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00\r\np.m. Free parking is available.\r\n

LOCATION OF POSITION

Fifth Regiment Armory\r\n219 29th Division Street�\r\nBaltimore, Maryland 21201\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to monitor the Army and Air Operations and Maintenance\r\nbudgets. This position will assist with the preparation of federal funded program expenses,\r\nprepare vouchers, and work with the Cooperative Agreement Accountant. The Agency Budget\r\nSpecialist will monitor program spending, resolve discrepancies, host monthly program\r\nreporting meetings, and evaluate budget modification proposals, while also having the ability to make program budget recommendations to the Fiscal Services Chief and Chief Financial Officer.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Position duties include but are not limited it:\r\n\r\n\r\n�Monitor federal fund program expenditures.��\r\n�Process federal grant vouchers.��\r\n�Monitor MMD requisitions email accounts to ensure timely approvals.��\r\n�Ensure purchasing requests comply with organizational policies and funding restrictions.��\r\n�Ensure proper expenditure recording.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:�Five years of experience�in budget preparation, presentation and execution.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:�\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience�in budget preparation, presentation and execution for the required experience.�\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may substitute 30 credit�hours of graduate education from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration for the required experience.�\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service� experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

� Experience working with budgets\r\n� Experience monitoring and approving requisitions��\r\n� Experience processing reimbursable expenditures��\r\n� Knowledge and experience using FMIS\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.� Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Common Access Card (CAC) required. This position will require the ability to pass a Federal background check in addition to a State background to access the facilities and computer systems by being issued a CAC card. The ability to obtain and maintain this access to the facility and CAC card is a condition of employment for this position.\r\n\r\n\r\nEmployees must be able to successfully complete a State and Federal background check.\r\n
