The Vice President, Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Operations, serves as the executive leader for the Department of Surgery within the Texas Children's Physician Organization and is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of pediatric ambulatory surgical services. This leader partners closely with Department Chairs, Division Chiefs, physician leaders, hospital executives, and system leaders to advance the department's mission while achieving growth, operational excellence, exceptional quality, patient and family experience, workforce engagement, and financial performance. The Vice President serves as the primary administrative partner to physician leadership, ensuring alignment between clinical priorities and operational execution across the Texas Children's Health System.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Lead the development and execution of departmental strategies aligned with Texas Children’s and Physician Organization priorities.
- Partner with physician leadership to identify growth opportunities, expand services, strengthen referral capture, and increase access to pediatric surgical subspecialty care.

- Develop and advance care delivery strategies and operating models that optimize access, scheduling, throughput, capacity utilization, patient flow, productivity, quality outcomes, and patient experience.
- Lead the transformation and integration of care delivery models to support organizational growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.

Executive Partnership & Governance
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on surgical services, workforce trends, growth opportunities, market dynamics, and enterprise priorities.
- Represent the Department of Surgery and Physician Organization on executive councils and enterprise committees.
- Build strong partnerships across Finance, HR, Strategy, Revenue Cycle, Nursing, academic partners, and other key stakeholders to advance organizational goals.
- Communicate operational, financial, and organizational performance through executive dashboards and routine leadership reviews.
- Support enterprise accreditation, regulatory, compliance, and quality initiatives across ambulatory and physician operations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10 years of healthcare administration or other related administration experience
- Within that experience:
- At least 5 years of formal management experience
- At least 3 years as a senior leader
Preferred
- Master’s degree
