About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Complex Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Loan Closing Administrator to join Zions Bancorporation. The Loan Closing Administrator plays a key role in supporting the closing of our most complex commercial and industrial transactions, ensuring exceptional accuracy, risk management, and compliance throughout the entire documentation and due diligence process.

This position leverages strong analytical, research, and communication skills to interpret sophisticated commercial loan agreements, resolve unique closing issues, and protect the bank's asset-backed collateral and lien positions. Additionally, the Administrator provides leadership within the team, offering guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced loan specialists and closers.

In this role, you will interact closely with relationship managers, underwriters, credit officers, external legal counsel, and commercial borrowers throughout the closing process, serving as a key partner in driving successful transaction outcomes and ensuring an exceptional client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal Analysis & Condition Management: Review complex C&I credit approvals for compliance, appropriate lending authority, and proper collateral perfection guidelines. Interpret complex credit agreements to establish clear, actionable conditions to close.
  • Collateral & Lien Perfection: Perform detailed analysis of collateral security requirements under UCC Article 9. Coordinate the preparation and filing of UCC-1 financing statements, and manage the execution of Deposit Account Control Agreements (DACAs), stock pledges, and specialized liens on equipment, inventory, and accounts receivable.
  • Asset-Backed & Risk Due Diligence: Apply a solid working knowledge of commercial lending principles, risk management, and C&I due diligence. Review borrowing base certifications, field audits, and financial covenants to ensure operating lines and asset-based facilities are structured safely prior to funding.
  • Outside Counsel Coordination: Partner with and manage external legal counsel on custom attorney-prepared loan documentation, complex credit agreements, security agreements, and escrow closing instructions. Verify that all drafted documents align precisely with credit approvals and bank policy guidelines.
  • Regular Client & Partner Collaboration: Act as the central communication hub during the closing lifecycle. Maintain regular, proactive contact with corporate clients, relationship managers, third-party auditors, and external legal counsel to expedite closings while maintaining strict bank standards.
  • Mentorship & Team Support: Assist in training, onboarding, and mentoring less experienced loan specialists and closers, serving as a technical resource for complex commercial closing and perfection structures.
  • Due Diligence & Compliance Verification: Evaluate complex borrowing entity structures (LLCs, LPs, Corporations, and joint ventures) to confirm signing authority, and ensure absolute compliance with federal regulations (such as Beneficial Ownership/BOI standards, Reg B, and anti-money laundering controls).
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve moderately complex to highly complex closing and documentation issues using sound judgment, working within established practices, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 4+ years of dedicated commercial loan closing, commercial paralegal, or C&I loan documentation experience in a complex commercial banking environment. Experience guiding, mentoring, or training peer-level team members is highly preferred.

  • Technical C&I Expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial lending processes, UCC Article 9 filing guidelines, blanket liens, purchase money security interests (PMSI), possessory collateral controls (DACAs, stock certificates), and asset-backed lending mechanics.

  • Legal Collaboration: Proven experience collaborating with outside legal counsel on complex, custom-drafted C&I credit facilities and borrowing agreements.

  • Regulatory & Risk Knowledge: Solid understanding of commercial banking compliance requirements, particularly borrowing entity certification processes, beneficial ownership (BOI) standards, and financial covenant monitoring.

  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional accuracy, analytical thinking, and detail orientation with a proven ability to manage multiple high-priority, complex operating lines and term facilities simultaneously.

  • Natural aptitude for peer leadership, training, and sharing knowledge with junior team members.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of building positive relationships and maintaining professional contact with corporate clients, treasury officers, and outside counsel during the closing process.

  • Proficiency in commercial loan systems (such as nCino) and office productivity software (Word, Excel) to compile loan documentation and reporting.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience/paralegal certification) is highly preferred.

Pay range (depending on experience and location):  $30.00-$45.00
