About the job

Shape the future of FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) by helping identify, evaluate, and execute high-impact strategic investments and corporate development opportunities. In this highly cross-functional role, you’ll partner closely with senior Markets leaders and stakeholders across Trading, Digital Markets, CIB Strategy, Acquisitions & Strategic Investments, Legal, Compliance, Finance & Business Management, and Technology—plus external founders and investors—to deliver strategic outcomes that matter.

Job summary

The Markets Investments & Acquisitions team, within the broader Digital Markets business, manages strategic investment, warrant, acquisition, NewCo/JV, and portfolio-management / strategy opportunities across the FICC trading businesses, with thematic focus areas including digital assets, private markets, AI, electronic trading, market infrastructure, and data/workflow platforms. The Associate will support the full lifecycle of opportunities—from thematic research and sourcing through diligence, financial analysis, structuring, negotiation, execution, and post-investment governance—translating complex market, product, financial, and strategic inputs into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

  • Support evaluation and execution of strategic investments, warrants, acquisitions, NewCos/JVs, and other strategic initiatives across FICC and related Markets businesses
  • Conduct diligence and analysis across market landscape/competition, company/product, financials/valuation, strategic fit, and key risk/control/reputational/execution considerations
  • Assist in structuring and negotiating investment, warrant, equity-grant, and acquisition terms, including cash-efficient structures linked to strategic commercial relationships
  • Prepare senior-ready materials for governance forums and investment committees (e.g., investment memos, market maps, strategic assessments, valuation outputs, decision materials)
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (FICC businesses, Digital Markets, Strategy, ASI, Legal, Compliance, F&BM, Technology, and partner LOBs) to drive alignment, diligence, and execution
  • Support portfolio management and post-investment governance, including KPI tracking, quarterly portfolio reviews, and board/observer materials
  • Track industry trends and emerging opportunities; develop thematic research/market maps and engage with external founders, fintechs, incumbents, and investors to support sourcing and market intelligence

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, strategic investments, private equity/growth equity, venture capital, strategy, management consulting, markets, fintech, or another analytical/transaction-oriented role
  • Strong analytical and financial skills (financial statements, valuation, scenario analysis, transaction comparables, business-case development)
  • Strong interest in financial markets, FICC products, market structure, fintech, and strategic investing
  • Ability to evaluate companies across strategic and financial dimensions (product-market fit, revenue model, competitive positioning, scalability, risks, and strategic relevance)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce senior-ready recommendations and materials
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment; strong PowerPoint/Excel skills and comfort using LLMs/productivity tools while adhering to firm policies and controls

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with M&A, strategic investments, warrants, equity investments, commercial partnerships, JVs/NewCos, or corporate development processes
  • Familiarity with FICC markets (Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities, Securitized Products, financing), electronic trading, market infrastructure, or post-trade workflows
  • Exposure to digital assets/tokenization, private markets, AI, data/analytics platforms, electronic trading venues, workflow platforms, or capital markets infrastructure
  • Experience in market mapping/competitive analysis/investment screening/due diligence and build/buy/partner frameworks; comfort operating in a small, high-impact team with broad responsibilities
