Apply ↗About the job
Join Apple's Corporate Tax Department to help shape and advance our U.S. and Canada indirect tax function. In this senior individual contributor role, you will own the strategy and execution of process improvements, tax law change management, and credits and incentives programs. You will drive cross-functional initiatives with Tax, Finance, Operations, and IS&T to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant indirect tax processes — influencing outcomes across teams.
You will lead the identification, evaluation, and operationalization of indirect tax law changes and credits and incentives across U.S. and Canada. You will define and drive process improvement strategies, serve as a subject matter expert on complex audit and compliance matters, and translate technical tax analysis into business-ready insights. This role requires the ability to operate independently on ambiguous, high-impact problems while mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end strategy for indirect tax process improvements, leveraging automation and technology to drive measurable efficiency gains across the function.
- Lead the research, tracking, operationalization, and documentation of U.S. and Canada indirect tax credits and incentives, identifying opportunities that maximize benefit to Apple.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, independently assess their impact to Apple, quantify exposure and opportunity, and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on complex indirect tax audits, driving audit strategy and ensuring optimal outcomes with minimal oversight.
- Analyze complex, large-scale tax data to support tax planning, audit defense, and business decision-making, synthesizing findings into clear, actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior management on indirect tax matters, proactively surfacing risks, trends, and strategic opportunities.
- Mentor and develop team members, raising the technical bar and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax, with ownership of process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in tax, with at least 5 years focused on audit strategy and process transformation.
- Track record of independently leading credits and incentives programs from identification through execution.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and tax technology tools.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex, cross-functional initiatives simultaneously and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Experience operating in a large multinational corporate tax environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex tax concepts for non-tax audiences.
- Strong analytical rigor with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
- CPA or Master's degree in Taxation.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or develop junior team members.
