The Director, State Governmental Relations is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the company's state government relations program and developing strategies to maintain a favorable environment for the healthcare industry.

How you’ll contribute

A Director, State Governmental Relations who excels in this role will:

  • Develop and implement state legislative priorities and strategies in compliance with Lifepoint strategies

  • Direct communication and coordination with the appropriate Division Presidents to ensure that government relations efforts and activities support and enhance operational goals

  • Direct supervision and management of state lobbyists (contractors)

  • Serve as liaison and primary contact with key state healthcare trade associations to ensure the company's views and priorities are represented

  • Develop and manage key state legislative issues by soliciting analysis of legislative, regulatory proposals from appropriate company departments and personnel

  • Coordinate the company's grassroots call to action program to ensure the views and priorities of the company are appropriately communicated to various state legislative bodies and trade associations

  • Manage political action committees

  • Regular and reliable attendance

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience with 5 years in a government relations department, an elected official’s office, or managing political campaigns.

  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time
