Job Summary

Job type: Full Time

Shift: Days

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Under the guidance of the Manager HIM, is responsible for providing and maintaining accurate medical records by retrieving and retaining confidential patient medical information generated throughout the center and external facilities. Filing of loose diagnostic and therapeutic reports onto the patient’s medical record in an expeditious manner to assure patient quality care and risk prevention. Respond to clinician and allied health care provider’s medical information needs by supplying required medical information.

These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to create unique environments, where patients, their families, doctors and staff come together to achieve longer and better lives in the fight against cancer.

Qualifications

•    High School Diploma or GED •    Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. TJC) appropriate for position. •    Good working knowledge of medical record principles •    Previous clerical or office experience.  Previous Medical Records Dept. experience preferred. •    Previous experience with the use of computers in a Windows environment with MS Office. •    Ability to prioritize tasks and self direct •    Excellent communication skills. •    Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with center’s personnel.
