Work Shift

Job Summary / Responsibilities:

WellStar’s Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) and the Wellstar Medical Group are pleased to announce an opening for an Adult Neuropsychologist in the Marietta/East Cobb, GA location. This position is located 15 minutes away from Wellstar’s flagship Hospital, Kennestone. Our office, housing multiple neuropsychologists, provides the majority of ambulatory neuropsychological services throughout the Wellstar system. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Director of Neuropsychology.

A majority of time will be spent conducting outpatient neuropsychological evaluations with adults who have a wide range of neurocognitive conditions / concerns. Conditions include but are not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinsonian conditions, Primary Progressive Aphasias, CVA, head injury, and epilepsy. We provide several services that are directly linked to treatment such as DBS pre-surgical evaluations for Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor and initial / follow-up evaluations for monoclonal antibody treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. An anticipated area of growth is epilepsy, so experience with pre/post-surgical evaluations, fMRI testing, and Wada testing is preferred. While assessment is primary to this role, we view every encounter through a therapeutic lens.

Wellstar emphasizes collaboration and integration to develop more effect patient care pathways and delivery of services; therefore, an ideal candidate will be open to establishing collaborative connections with other specialists, operating in multidisciplinary teams, and possess an appreciation for the diverse talents of a neuropsychologist.

Additionally, an ideal candidate will view training as part of their professional identity. We have an APPCN program with several fellows, regular didactics, and collaborative training experiences. Along these lines, ongoing research, while not a responsibility, is a welcome contribution that helps enrich our practice and meet APPCN training requirements.

Psychologists are valued at Wellstar and eligible for full medical staff privileges. Our standards are consistent with these privileges; therefore, working towards board certification is expected if not already obtained.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: (1) A doctorate degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) (2) completion of an APA-accredited internship in a hospital/medical setting, (3) completion of a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship with concentration in clinical neuropsychology; and (4) licensure or license-eligibility in the State of Georgia.  Whereas active board-certification in Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP-CN) is not required at the time of hire, the provider should take steps to obtain the certification within 24 months of the date of hire.
