What you’ll do:
The Maintenance and Production Supervisor provides leadership and direction to production employees and maintenance personnel within the assigned area and shift. This role is accountable for safe operations, environmental compliance, product quality, on-time delivery, cost, equipment reliability, and disciplined execution of preventive and corrective maintenance. The supervisor coordinates production priorities with maintenance resources to reduce unplanned downtime, restore equipment safely, and sustain customer commitments through continuous improvement. The position collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Human Resources to optimize the product line, strengthen equipment capability, and develop a skilled and engaged workforce.
Essential Functions:
-
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Drive, implement, promote, and maintain a safe working environment through hazard identification, accident prevention, equipment condition monitoring, and consistent enforcement of I Own Safety expectations. Ensure maintenance and production work is performed using applicable lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, hot-work, confined-space, and permit requirements. Lead timely response to unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment-related risks, and environmental concerns; ensure corrective actions are documented and completed. Coordinate planned maintenance work so equipment is safely released, isolated, serviced, inspected, and returned to production.
-
Production Operations: Develop and establish manufacturing priorities based on the production schedule, available labor, equipment condition, and customer deadlines. Supervise daily production activities and monitor safety, quality, output, earned hours, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, and downtime. Adjust labor and equipment priorities during the shift to protect critical orders and minimize disruption to downstream operations. Lead effective shift handoffs that communicate production status, equipment concerns, open work orders, quality issues, and required follow-up actions. Utilize inventory and production management systems to monitor material availability, order completion, inventory levels, and operating performance.
-
Maintenance Reliability and Equipment Performance: Plan, prioritize, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in alignment with production requirements. Monitor preventive-maintenance completion, work-order backlog, recurring failures, mean time to repair, downtime trends, and equipment availability. Provide first-line leadership during equipment breakdowns by securing the area, assigning resources, coordinating escalation, communicating status, and confirming a safe return to service. Partner with maintenance technicians and Engineering to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotic, welding, and facility-related equipment issues within established qualifications and procedures. Ensure accurate documentation of failure modes, repairs, parts used, labor time, downtime reason, and follow-up work in the maintenance work-order system. Identify critical spares and recurring parts consumption; coordinate with storeroom, purchasing, vendors, and technical resources to reduce repair delays. Support contractor and vendor work, including scope alignment, safety requirements, scheduling, site access, and verification of completed work. Promote operator basic care, equipment cleaning, inspection, abnormality identification, and early escalation without transferring skilled-trade work to unqualified employees.
Essential Functions:
-
Quality and Process Control: Monitor control plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems, and supervise production activities to ensure products meet or exceed established quality requirements. Monitor work-in-process quality and ensure adherence to Eaton Quality Policy, procedures, standard work, inspection requirements, and containment expectations. Ensure equipment repairs, adjustments, tooling changes, and process restarts do not compromise approved settings, validation, or product quality. Coordinate with Quality and Engineering when equipment conditions may have produced suspect material; support containment, root-cause analysis, and permanent corrective action.
-
Continuous Improvement: Plan, lead, measure, and assess continuous-improvement and manufacturing-process improvements using Eaton Business System processes and problem-solving tools such as Standard Work, 5S, visual management, and structured root-cause analysis. Analyze production losses and maintenance history to identify chronic downtime, repeat repairs, bottlenecks, waste, and opportunities for reliability improvement. Lead countermeasure implementation and verify effectiveness through follow-up data, standard-work updates, PM changes, training, or engineering controls. Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance, startup, and transfer-to-operations activities; ensure maintenance documentation, spare parts, training, and PM requirements are established.
-
Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage and promote a positive team environment through clear expectations, performance recognition, coaching for improvement, accountability, and employee development. Assign daily work, balance resources, approve time and attendance records, support staffing decisions, and address performance or conduct concerns in partnership with Human Resources. Assist in recruiting, selecting, onboarding, training, motivating, promoting, and counseling employees. Develop production employees, leads, and maintenance personnel through skills assessment, cross-training plans, qualification tracking, and regular feedback. Collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Planning to meet operational deliverables and resolve constraints. Participate in tier meetings and communicate safety, quality, delivery, cost, maintenance, and staffing performance using clear ownership and escalation paths.
What will make you successful? An ideal candidate is a strong leader with a background in employee coaching, accountability, and talent development. You prioritize cross-functional communication and shift-to-shift continuity to ensure production and maintenance priorities. You use sound judgment during equipment or production disruptions and are a technical problem solver, using data-based decision making. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team.
