About the job

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Thermal BU - PMO will be responsible for managing the Thermal Business Unit Program Management Office (PMO), providing coordination, governance and execution support across strategic and operational Thermal programs. The role coordinates cross-functional workstreams, drives execution against agreed milestones and deliverables, and ensures clear ownership and timely closure of actions across the Thermal BU.

Working across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Product Management, Sales and Finance, the role provides active program management for key Thermal initiatives, identifies dependencies and risks, removes barriers to execution and provides clear escalation to BU leadership where required.

The role also governs, coordinates, tracks and drives to closure the actions generated through process improvement, continuous improvement, root-cause and corrective-action activities. Process mapping, process analysis, process design and identification of improvements remain the responsibility of the Process Improvement Manager and relevant functional owners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PMO AND PROGRAM GOVERNANCE

  • Establish, develop and manage the Thermal BU PMO, applying a consistent and practical governance framework across key BU programs and initiatives.

  • Maintain a consolidated view of major programs, priorities, milestones, deliverables, risks, dependencies and outstanding actions.

  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams and ensure clear ownership, accountability and timing for key deliverables.

  • Drive strategic and operational Thermal BU programs from initiation through implementation and closure.

  • Establish appropriate program reporting, decision and escalation mechanisms.

  • Provide BU leadership with clear, concise visibility of program status, priorities, risks, blockers, dependencies and decisions required.

  • Identify cross-program conflicts in priorities, resources or timing and facilitate resolution across functions.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL EXECUTION

  • Act as the central coordination point for programs requiring collaboration across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Product Management, Sales and Finance.

  • Translate BU priorities and leadership decisions into structured workstreams with defined milestones, deliverables, owners and timelines.

  • Drive cross-functional teams to deliver agreed actions and commitments while maintaining functional ownership of technical and operational decisions.

  • Identify barriers to execution and coordinate the appropriate functions to resolve them.

  • Escalate critical risks, delays and resource constraints to BU leadership with clear actions and decision requirements.

  • Capture decisions and commitments and track them through to completion.

ACTION MANAGEMENT AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

  • Own the consolidated Thermal BU action-management process for key programs and improvement activities.

  • Ensure actions have clearly defined owners, due dates, expected outcomes and appropriate evidence of closure.

  • Govern, coordinate, track and drive actions generated through root-cause analysis, corrective-action activities and continuous- or process-improvement initiatives through to completion.

  • Track corrective actions through implementation and confirm that appropriate closure evidence is provided.

  • Identify overdue, blocked or at-risk actions and coordinate escalation where required.

  • Provide visibility of action status, ageing, ownership and closure performance to BU leadership.

  • Ensure actions and commitments are not lost between functional teams and accountability remains clear through closure.

PROCESS AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SUPPORT

  • Work with the Process Improvement Manager and functional teams to support execution of agreed process and continuous-improvement initiatives.

  • Translate approved process-improvement outputs into structured actions, owners, milestones and deliverables.

  • Coordinate and drive the cross-functional actions generated through process-improvement activities.

  • Track implementation progress, dependencies, resource constraints and barriers, escalating overdue or at-risk actions as appropriate.

  • Maintain visibility of implementation status and agreed benefits associated with improvement actions.

  • Provide PMO governance and execution discipline so approved improvement actions move from recommendation to implementation.

  • This role does not own process mapping, process analysis, process design or identification of improvements; these remain under the ownership of the Process Improvement Manager and relevant functional teams.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING

  • Develop and maintain PMO dashboards and KPIs for Thermal BU programs and actions.

  • Establish leading and lagging indicators to provide early visibility of execution risks.

  • Monitor milestones, deliverables, action closure, overdue actions and other agreed performance indicators.

  • Ensure consistent and accurate reporting across Thermal BU programs.

  • Provide concise executive-level reporting on status, risks, blockers, milestone performance, outstanding actions, required decisions and cross-functional dependencies.

  • Use program and action data to identify areas requiring management intervention or escalation.

PMO STANDARDS AND BEST PRACTICE

  • Develop and maintain Thermal BU program-management processes, standards, tools and templates.

  • Improve consistency in the management of programs, actions, risks and deliverables across the BU.

  • Promote disciplined program management while keeping governance practical and appropriate to business needs.

  • Support a culture of ownership, accountability, urgency and continuous improvement.

  • Support BU growth by ensuring program-management processes and governance are scalable.

KEY OUTCOMES AND MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • On-time delivery of key Thermal BU program milestones and deliverables.

  • Improved action-closure performance and fewer overdue corrective and improvement actions.

  • Improved visibility and management of cross-functional risks, dependencies and blockers.

  • Effective implementation of actions generated through process- and continuous-improvement activities.

  • Reduction in recurring issues through timely implementation of corrective actions.

  • Consistent PMO governance and reporting across Thermal BU programs.

  • Improved cross-functional accountability and speed of execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Program Management or a related discipline or work experience

  • Experience in program management, PMO, engineering, operations or product-related roles within the Thermal industry or a complex technical or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience coordinating complex cross-functional programs involving Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality and Product Management.

  • Experience managing multiple technical programs, workstreams, priorities, dependencies and deliverables simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of structured program- and project-management methodologies.

  • Experience managing corrective actions, cross-functional action plans, program KPIs, dashboards and management reporting.

  • Ability to coordinate technical and operational workstreams without taking ownership away from responsible functional teams.

  • Strong analytical, organisational, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Experience operating within a global matrix organisation.

  • Experience in data-centre thermal management, HVAC, liquid cooling, cooling systems or mission-critical thermal infrastructure is advantageous.

  • PMP or a similar program- or project-management qualification is advantageous.
