JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: OJT Production Supervisor
Department: Maintenance Training
Reports To: OJT Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead, mentor, direct and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
- Supervise and evaluate formal and OJT instruction given by OJT leads and trainers.
- Identify any changes that will enhance the OJT process quality and submit to the OJT Program Supervisor.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the training performed by OJT leads and trainers.
- Supervise and direct OJT schedules, training plans, and task assignments in accordance with ACS requirements and operational needs.
- Ensure OJT leads and trainers are instructing OJTs in accordance with company policies and aircraft manual procedures.
- Communicate with maintenance managers, supervisors, and leads to facilitate OJT lead and trainer implementation of OJT training in the assigned work area.
- Supervise and evaluate assignments of daily job tasks and crews for apprentices while in assigned work areas. Ensure that productivity, work quality, and training received are satisfactory.
- Oversee the successful implementations of all company rules, work procedures, and related instructions as defined in the USDOL Standards of Apprenticeship Program.
- Facilitate and supervise communication with maintenance department supervisory personnel and Apprentice Program staff to coordinate production tasks, training requirements, apprentice/trainee progress, and appropriate placement of apprentice personnel.
- Supervise apprentice moves/rotations to facilitate timely completion of the Apprentice Program work requirements and 14 CFR Part 65.77 experience requirements.
- Audit OJT records, observe training interactions, and evaluate task performance to maintain training consistency and compliance.
- Address performance concerns, training gaps, or resource needs, escalating issues to the OJT Manager as appropriate.
- Serve as a communication bridge between the OJT Manager, OJT department staff, and maintenance personnel.
- Conduct timely, accurate updates to training logs, skill assessments, and progression documents.
- Reinforce safety standards, technical accuracy, and professional behavior across all OJT activities.
- Recommend enhancements to OJT processes, training materials, and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Perform any other additional duties as assigned by the OJT Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Airframe and or Powerplant mechanics certification is required.
- Experience in aviation maintenance, technical operations, or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of ACS tasks and FAA requirements.
- Ability to assess performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple trainers, tasks, and trainees simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The ability to read, write and understand English.
