As part of the manufacturing team, you’ll use your skills, the Sonoco safety management system and other tools to improve safety performance and maintain environmental requirements as prescribed by local, state and federal requirements. The Process Operator Indirect will be responsible for implementation of all Safety, Health and Environmental programs for the facility. The ideal candidate will be part of the facility leadership team tasked with developing and implementing strategies to continually improve Safety, Health and Environmental performance.

What you will be doing:

  • Reporing out safety concerns at start up meeting and MS TEAMS meeting with leadership team
  • Recording & addressing safety concerns/actions in Intelex Database
  • coordinate and complete R3s monthly
  • perform storm water sampling for Dept of Ecology as needed
  • manage PPE/First Aid inventory
  • perform safety audits
  • order safety supplies
  • cross-functional collaboration with safety coordinator peers within the West-Midwest region and/or any other safety related tasks as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • 5 years of safety experience
  • Demonstrate functional/technical knowledge on OSHA regulations safety processes and procedures such as injury/illness recordkeeping, confined space entry, LOTO, and other safety work practices.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated oral/written communication skills: presents information and ideas to individuals or groups in an articulate and organized way, appropriate to the audience, and under a wide range of communication situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with independence.
  • Strong problem analysis, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Presentation and training skills required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and meet the needs for changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be proficient in: Microsoft office; Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Position requires an ability to communicate through verbal and written methods to all employees and to community and government agency representatives. Job demands knowledge of computer systems, motivation techniques, and interpersonal relation skills. Position requires leading group discussions and speaking in public (often to large groups).
