Role Summary

Retail Network Strategy & Portfolio Optimization

• Own the overall retail network expansion and optimization strategy, including multi-year plans for market growth, branch distribution, DeNovo openings, renovations, closures, and ATM placement.

• Translate enterprise growth priorities, market opportunity, client behavior, financial performance, and competitive insights into clear network strategies and executable portfolio actions.

• Establish decision frameworks, prioritization criteria, governance routines, and executive recommendations for investments across branch growth, optimization, consolidation, modernization, and closures.

• Maintain an integrated view of the retail network portfolio, including market expansion opportunities, performance trends, capital needs, execution risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs.

DeNovo Performance, Execution & Sales Growth

• Lead DeNovo performance and execution from pre-opening readiness through the first two years of operation, ensuring new branches progress from successful launch to sustainable market performance.

• Drive disciplined sales growth in new DeNovo locations, including client acquisition, deposit growth, relationship deepening, referral activation, community presence, and Premier and small business opportunity capture.

• Partner with region, market, area, and branch leaders to establish launch plans, readiness routines, performance cadences, barrier removal, and corrective action plans.

• Capture lessons learned from openings and scale effective playbooks, tools, scorecards, field routines, and best practices across the DeNovo portfolio.

Branch Growth, Closures, Renovations & End-to-End Execution

• Lead end-to-end business execution for branch growth, including strategy development, market prioritization, site pipeline alignment, launch readiness, partner coordination, opening execution, and post-opening performance routines.

• Oversee business strategy and execution support for branch closures, ensuring client transition planning, teammate readiness, risk mitigation, communication alignment, and performance tracking.

• Partner on branch renovation and modernization strategies to improve client experience, teammate effectiveness, brand presence, and market competitiveness.

• Identify and remove barriers that could delay growth, optimization, closures, or renovations, escalating decisions, resourcing needs, and tradeoffs when appropriate.

ATM Channel Strategy, Transformation and Experience & Physical Distribution Integration

• Set the strategic outlook, roadmap, and prioritization agenda for ATM Channel Strategy, Transformation and Experience, including Teller Connect capabilities, distribution, placement, optimization, and integration into the broader retail network.

• Partner with Digital, Technology, Operations, Finance, Real Estate, vendors, Branch and Premier executives, and business leaders to align ATM hardware, software, servicing, innovation, and channel capabilities with client needs and network strategy.

• Lead ATM channel experience and optimization efforts to support client access, ease of use, cost efficiency, market coverage, branch strategy, and the bank’s omni-channel vision.

• Provide business leadership for ATM investment planning, vendor engagement, feature prioritization, transformation initiatives, performance routines, and channel financial management.

• Partner heavily with Branch and Premier executives, the Head of Real Estate Strategy and Portfolio Transaction Management, Corporate Real Estate, Finance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Marketing, Digital, Analytics, and field leadership to align business strategy, portfolio actions, investment decisions, and execution plans.

• Co-lead business case development for growth, optimization, closure, renovation, and ATM initiatives, including financial analysis, benefit sizing, risk assessment, scenario modeling, and executive decision support.

• Define governance routines, decision rights, stage gates, performance metrics, executive reporting, and escalation paths to ensure disciplined execution and accountability.

• Ensure network expansion and optimization activities are executed in accordance with applicable risk, compliance, operational, brand, financial, and audit standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail banking, distribution strategy, branch banking, network planning, corporate real estate strategy, financial services operations, ATM/channel management, or related fields.
