NATURE AND SCOPE
· Customer-facing quality ownership. Assembly is the last point of control before product ships to the customer. Modules are built to rigorous specifications for safety-critical applications. The supervisor is accountable for ensuring build quality, test integrity, and documentation accuracy within the assigned work center.
· Product-line-specific process knowledge. The assembly operation is organized into dedicated work centers by product line, each with distinct build processes, test requirements, cycle times, and customer specifications. The supervisor must develop deep familiarity with the assembly methods, test protocols, and quality documentation specific to their assigned product line.
· Team development in a scaling environment. The St. Louis site has grown approximately 67% in workforce over the past two years. The incumbent is responsible for developing working team leads into effective frontline leaders who can balance production duties with team coordination, and for building a pipeline of capable technicians who can absorb increasing throughput demands.
· Shift coordination and handoff discipline. The supervisor is accountable for structured, high-quality shift handoffs to the night-shift supervisor, ensuring clear communication of production status, equipment issues, safety concerns, quality holds, and in-process work.
· Cross-functional interface. The role requires active coordination with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Continuous Improvement teams to resolve production issues, support corrective actions, and support new product introductions. The supervisor must work collaboratively across the business with minimum direction from management.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills (Candidate must communicate effectively with operators, maintenance personnel, technical support personnel, management, and all internal and external stakeholders)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- A keen drive to improve operational execution and maintain high work standards.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A safety focus, with a full understanding of the applicability of Government EHS regulations and the Company’s Global EHS policies and procedures to the facility and workers.
- Knowledge of quality systems and the requirements of ISO 9001–2015 and how they apply to production processes is preferred but is not required.
· A continuous improvement mindset with familiarity in Lean, Root Cause Analysis, and other CI tools is required.
Key Job Responsibilities:
· Ensure the safety of all personnel within the assigned work center by demonstrating leadership in the Basic Safety Process (BSP), enforcing EHS standards, leading daily safety observations and pre-shift safety communications, and driving continuous improvement toward zero-injury targets.
· Ensure product quality and AS9100 compliance at point of assembly and test by maintaining rigorous build quality, test integrity, and documentation standards, responding immediately to quality deviations, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action, and ensuring zero quality escapes.
· Deliver shift-level assembly output that meets the production schedule by directing day-shift operations to achieve throughput, schedule adherence, and on-time delivery targets, coordinating with other supervisors and managers on production schedules, and escalating constraints to the Production Manager.
· Develop and build capability in the assigned production team by setting performance expectations and coaching to get results, developing working team leads into effective frontline leaders, supporting onboarding and skills development, consistently applying plant policies, and building a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
· Execute structured and high-quality shift handoffs by ensuring complete communication of production status, equipment issues, safety concerns, quality holds, and in-process work to the incoming night-shift supervisor.
· Support production growth and new product introductions by scaling team staffing and skills to match throughput requirements and integrating new build processes and product variants into the operating rhythm.
· Drive compliance with quality management systems by ensuring AS9100 and ISO 9001 adherence, maintaining accurate process documentation, and supporting internal and external audits.
· Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity and supporting Stable Operations and Waste Reduction initiatives.
