About the job

The Division of Geriatrics seeks to recruit a Director of Operations for Dementia Care Aware, a state-wide initiative led by UCSF’s Executive Director.  Dementia Care Aware is a multi-year, multi-site, statewide initiative aiming to improve the lives of people living with dementia, and the people who support them, by rapidly improving the ability of primary care for underserved populations to assess and care plan for people living with dementia. There is an increasing focus on rural areas and on general geriatrics expertise in rural areas through Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO)-style training.

The Director of Operations will independently oversee a broad spectrum of management and implementation duties that will require advanced knowledge and experience in the fields of dementia, primary care practice, Medi-Cal, the safety net, rural health, and public health.  They will also administer all finance, human resources, programmatic and other operational functions for Dementia Care Aware. Working closely with and reporting to the Executive Director, other core responsibilities will include managing all programmatic activities, which include: organizing, leading and documenting program meetings, organizing the formation of new rural health outreach work to identify partners for training, maintaining a website for Dementia Care Aware, providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, managing and maintaining program data and resources, creating and disseminating targeted outreach and social media campaigns, writing reports and keeping track of program deliverables, hiring, onboarding and supervising program staff, contributing to program planning and direction, and acting as the key point of contact for all partners and stakeholders. Additionally, the Director of Operations will oversee the Program’s Evaluation Core to evaluate the overall success and impact of the program, especially in the realm of post-funding sustainability and continuity. A successful candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker with a problem-solving mindset who can independently prioritize all assignments and keep the Director informed. They are highly resourceful, and a thought leader who will contribute to the overall success of Dementia Care Aware and those with evaluation experience in training, education, and health programs are highly preferred.
