About the job

Details

Global medical education exchanges at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah (SFESOM) are currently established at multiple sites with five memos of understanding in place at medical schools in Ghana, Rwanda, Peru, Colombia, and South Korea. Urban underserved clinical rotations at the SFESOM are currently established within a network of student-led clinics (SLCs) and longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) sites. These clinical experiences are anchored by robust graduate certificate programs, creating a longitudinal thread of didactics and applied learning through scholarly research and community engagement experiences throughout the mission-driven MD program. Further development in thematically aligned medical education programs that reflect the SFESOM’s mission is anticipated, particularly with the anticipated opening of University of Utah Health’s West Valley Hospital.

The SFESOM seeks a physician for the position of Assistant Dean of Global and Urban Underserved Medical Education (ADGUME). In partnership with the Senior Associate Dean of Rural, Underserved, and Regional Medical Education and the Assistant Dean of Rural Medical Education and Pathways Innovation, the ADGUME collaborates with faculty and staff to design and implement innovative strategies for global and urban underserved medical education, including integration within the broader context of faculty-led educational programs targeting medically underserved populations at the SFESOM and the broader University of Utah community.
