About the job
Job Description Summary
The Manager, Finance Business Applications (Corporate Performance Management) is a Finance leader responsible for leading the team and applications that enable the organization’s financial close, consolidation, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other critical Finance processes. This role requires a strong understanding of how Finance operates and an ability to build trusted relationships across Financial Reporting, Consolidations, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, and other Finance functions. The successful candidate will combine Finance experience, people leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, and strong business partnership skills with familiarity with enterprise Finance systems.
Job Description
The Manager will lead and develop a team responsible for Corporate Performance Management applications, including OneStream, Oracle Hyperion, Blackline, and Workiva. Deep expertise in a specific technology is less important than understanding the Finance processes these applications support and being able to translate Finance needs into practical solutions.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, challenging existing processes, and helping Finance work differently. The Manager will identify opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate manual work, strengthen controls, and improve the speed and quality of Finance activities through process improvement, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and other emerging capabilities. The role works closely with Information Technology, the Finance PMO, and strategic vendors; however, the primary focus is leading the Finance Business Applications team and partnering with Finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing Finance Business Applications team.
- Build trusted relationships with Financial Reporting, Consolidations, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, and other Finance stakeholders and develop a strong understanding of their processes, priorities, and challenges.
- Lead the Finance team responsible for OneStream, Oracle Hyperion, BlackLine, Workiva, and related Finance applications.
- Ensure applications effectively support financial close, consolidation, financial and management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and financial data management.
- Work hands-on with the team and Finance stakeholders to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.
- Challenge existing processes and identify faster, simpler, and more effective ways of working through process redesign, standardization, automation, AI, and continuous improvement.
- Translate Finance requirements and business problems into application and process solutions in partnership with Finance, IT, PMO, and vendor resources.
- Help shape and execute the continued transformation of Finance processes and supporting applications while balancing innovation with operational stability.
- Maintain appropriate governance over application configuration, metadata, business rules, reporting structures, security, access, and change management.
- Maintain a strong internal-control environment supporting SOX compliance, segregation of duties, audit readiness, and financial-data integrity.
- Partner effectively with IT, the Finance PMO, software vendors, and consulting partners while maintaining clear Finance ownership of business requirements and outcomes.
- Continuously improve the effectiveness, reliability, and business value delivered by the Finance Business Applications team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Seven or more years of progressive experience working within or closely supporting Finance, with experience in areas such as Financial Reporting, Consolidations, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, financial systems, or Finance transformation.
- Three or more years of direct people-management experience, including coaching, development, performance management, and responsibility for team results.
- Strong understanding of core Finance processes, including financial close, consolidation, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and management reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to establish trusted relationships with Finance stakeholders, understand business challenges, and translate them into practical solutions.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex issues and drive them to resolution.
- Experience participating in or leading Finance transformation, significant process improvement, or Finance technology initiatives.
- Familiarity with enterprise Finance systems and how technology enables Finance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and identify opportunities to simplify, automate, standardize, and improve processes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and relationship-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the financial-services industry or another highly regulated Finance environment.
- Experience with Oracle Hyperion/HFM, OneStream, or another enterprise CPM/EPM platform.
- Experience with BlackLine, Workiva, PeopleSoft, or comparable Finance applications.
- Experience supporting Finance transformation involving close, consolidation, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, or forecasting.
- Experience identifying or implementing automation, AI, workflow, analytics, or other Finance process improvements.
- Project management or Finance transformation experience and demonstrated success partnering with Information Technology and PMO organizations.
- Knowledge of SOX, internal controls, audit requirements, financial-data integrity, and Finance application governance.
