Responsibilities

About the role:

The Credit Risk Analyst supports the AVP – Credit Risk in managing, monitoring and reporting on credit risk strategies. The position provides analytical insight into credit performance, policy execution and portfolio trends while developing a foundational understanding of consumer credit, underwriting practices and bank regulatory expectations. The position will work with a variety of internal clients as well as interacting with Management. This role offers a strong development opportunity for an analytically driven early-career professional through structured coaching and exposure to leadership and credit governance.

In this role you will:

  • Operate effectively in a startup banking environment, demonstrating the agility to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly to changing needs, and assume new responsibilities as the credit program continues to evolve
  • Support the AVP – Credit Risk in the development, monitoring and reporting of credit risk strategies
  • Create recurring and ad-hoc credit risk reports, dashboards and analysis for management and governance committees
  • Analyze origination trends, portfolio performance and credit execution metrics to identify emerging risks and opportunities
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and monitoring of credit policies, and procedures
  • Employ best practices of data analysis and validation to ensure data accuracy and audit readiness
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, concise summaries for leadership audiences
  • Support preparation of materials for Leadership,  Committees and Board reporting
  • Conduct ad-hoc research projects including data collection, analysis and presentation of results
  • Develop working knowledge of credit decisioning systems, underwriting workflows and servicing impacts

Qualifications

What makes you an ideal candidate?

  • Working knowledge of data analysis, reporting and visualization techniques
  • Strong analytical aptitude with ability to connect data trends to credit outcomes
  • Understanding of consumer credit fundamentals and willingness to develop underwriting judgment
  • High attention to detail and strong data accuracy discipline
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience working with large datasets and complex spreadsheets
  • Exposure to SQL, SAS, Power BI, Databricks or similar tools preferred (training supported)

Experience and Education

  • 0–2 years of experience working with complex Excel workbooks, querying large multi-table datasets, data analysis, and data presentation; experience in consumer loan or lease portfolio analysis, reporting and/or forecasting
  • Prior loan officer, underwriting, and credit decisioning experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Business Analytics, MIS or related quantitative field required

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
