PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Primarily responsible for cleaning, maintaining, repairing and prepping cages for live haul trailers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Clean and sanitize live haul trailers and cages.
- Perform all necessary paperwork associated with assigned job (i.e. work orders, charge parts, etc.).
- Inspect and repair cages, adhering to DOT and animal welfare guidelines and regulations.
- Drive various heavy duty equipment pieces safely.
- General housekeeping duties, maintaining neat, clean and orderly work area.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Relative maintenance experience (e.g. cutting, grinding, welding, etc.).
- Basic math functions and skills.
- Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
- Ability to operate yard equipment (e.g. forklift, yard truck, tractor, etc.)
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous cage maintenance experience.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Stand up to 8 hours.
- Lift up to 60 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor environment.
- Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling.
- Work around raw, live animal odors.
- Work in noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment.
