THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN

The GME Program Manager 3 for the Department of Medicine, working closely with the Medicine Residency Program Director and program leadership, ensures compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, policies, and standards. This position monitors and implements ACGME annual updates and regulatory changes, maintains program compliance, and supports the effective administration and continuous improvement of the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and oversees the Internal Medicine and Transitional year residency applicant interview and selection process, including application screening, candidate evaluation, interview scheduling and coordination, and the development of the final applicant ranking.
  • Develops and administers specialized screening and review processes for Internal Medical Graduate (IMG) applicants.
  • Develops, directs, and monitors all aspects of residency review regarding ACGME accreditation guidelines of both the Internal Medicine and Transitional Year programs.
  • Researches, analyzes, and advises the Program Directors and associated professional staff on short- and long-range planning.
  • Supervises the evaluation process and arranges residency review quarterly meetings for both programs.
  • Evaluates unanticipated changes in resident constituency and assists both Program Directors with reassigning residents to cover critical areas as needed.
  • Monitors and updates curriculum descriptions for all subspecialties of Internal Medicine and Transitional Year residency rotations.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional and applicable GME requirements and provides oversight and support for the final applicant ranking process.
  • Serves as the consultant for the development of fellowship programs in Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care and Hematology/Oncology, including interpretation of ACGME guidelines, interview process, etc.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in a residency program; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience; OR a combination of education and work experience to equal six (6) years.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the ACGME program.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and digital systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and think independently, take initiative, and provide detail-oriented work.

WORK SCHEDULE:  This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
