About the job
OVERVIEW
Live the experience. From professional empowerment to continual learning opportunities. From ongoing investment in new and emerging technologies to a career of self-determination. At Ulta Beauty, our tech team is critical to our scalability—and is recognized that way. We’ve been defined as a “mature start-up.” A place where interdepartmental exposure, open doors, and genuine collaboration is ubiquitous. Where challenges come fast and furious, requiring agility, mental dexterity, and creativity. Where our passion for better solutions drives us and is core to who we are.
We’re engineering for the future of retail, and it’s no-holds-barred. But for those motivated by continual change and ambiguity, by superior leadership, by whip smart colleagues who will press you daily for your very best, you’ll find that virtually nothing’s impossible at Ulta Beauty.
THE IMPACT YOU CAN MAKE:
The Director, Personalization & Loyalty Products is a critical leadership position within the Product Management organization responsible for defining and advancing the product strategy, roadmap and capabilities that enable customer growth at Ulta Beauty.
This leader will work in close partnership with Marketing to translate Ulta Beauty's customer growth strategy into differentiated product capabilities and experiences that drive guest acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, frequency and lifetime value. The role brings together Loyalty, Personalization, Marketing Technology, customer data and emerging AI capabilities to help Ulta Beauty build deeper, more relevant and valuable relationships with guests throughout the customer lifecycle.
The Director owns the product vision and strategy across Personalization and Loyalty, with a focus on creating an integrated customer growth ecosystem. This includes capabilities that enable Ulta Beauty to recognize and understand guests, grow and strengthen loyalty relationships, personalize interactions, determine next-best experiences and offers, orchestrate customer engagement, and continually optimize performance through experimentation and measurement.
The Director will serve as the strategic product leader for multiple product teams and platforms supporting Ulta Beauty's customer growth ecosystem. This individual will partner closely with Marketing, Loyalty, Digital, Store, Data & Analytics, Enterprise AI, Technology and other Product teams to translate growth strategies and customer insights into scalable product capabilities that can be activated across channels.
The role requires a strong combination of product strategy, growth marketing acumen, customer experience expertise and technical fluency. The Director will identify opportunities to improve customer growth outcomes, evaluate emerging technologies and vendor capabilities, partner on build-versus-buy decisions, and lead experimentation to determine the value and scalability of new solutions.
YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
- Own and articulate the product vision, strategy and multi-year roadmap for Customer Growth capabilities across Personalization and Loyalty, aligned to Ulta Beauty's Marketing and enterprise strategies.
- Partner closely with Marketing and Loyalty leadership to translate customer growth strategies across acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, frequency and lifetime value into product capabilities, experiences and roadmaps.
- Lead the evolution of Ulta Beauty's loyalty product ecosystem, including capabilities supporting member acquisition and enrollment, profiles, earn and burn, rewards, tiers, benefits, offers, promotions, challenges and other mechanisms that deepen guest engagement and loyalty.
- Define and advance the product strategy for personalization, including guest profiles and audiences, decisioning, recommendations, next-best actions, personalized offers and experiences, journey orchestration, experimentation and measurement.
- Connect Loyalty and Personalization capabilities to enable increasingly individualized customer experiences based on guest identity, preferences, behaviors, loyalty relationships, engagement and predicted needs.
- Establish clear objectives, key results (OKRs) and product success metrics tied to customer and business growth outcomes, including acquisition, loyalty enrollment, activation, engagement, retention, purchase frequency, incremental revenue, member value, customer lifetime value and personalization effectiveness.
- Develop capabilities that enable test-and-learn growth strategies, including audience testing, offer optimization, personalization, experimentation, A/B testing and measurement of incremental impact.
- Partner closely with Data & Analytics and Enterprise AI teams to advance customer intelligence, propensity models, predictive insights, recommendation capabilities, next-best-action decisioning and measurement.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to establish a shared vision for how Customer Growth, Loyalty, Personalization, Marketing Technology, Data and AI work together to create differentiated guest experiences and measurable enterprise growth.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stay informed of consumer behavior, growth marketing, loyalty, personalization, retail, beauty, AI and marketing technology trends to identify opportunities to accelerate customer and business growth.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to Marketing leadership, bringing a product and technology perspective to customer growth opportunities and strategies.
- Serve as an advocate and thought leader for Product Management across the organization, championing a culture of customer centricity, experimentation, measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Build, grow and support Product Managers and Product Owners through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and career development.
ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of digital technology, product management, customer growth, loyalty, personalization, marketing technology or related experience, including significant product leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing product visions, strategies and multi-year roadmaps that deliver measurable customer growth and business outcomes.
- Experience translating Marketing and customer growth strategies into technology capabilities, products and scalable platforms.
- Experience evaluating technology solutions and vendors against business use cases, technical requirements, scalability, strategic fit and total cost of ownership.
- Ability to think strategically while maintaining sufficient technical and operational depth to guide product teams from strategy through execution.
