OVERVIEW
Live the experience. From professional empowerment to continual learning opportunities. From ongoing investment in new and emerging technologies to a career of self-determination. At Ulta Beauty, our tech team is critical to our scalability—and is recognized that way. We’ve been defined as a “mature start-up.” A place where interdepartmental exposure, open doors, and genuine collaboration is ubiquitous. Where challenges come fast and furious, requiring agility, mental dexterity, and creativity. Where our passion for better solutions drives us and is core to who we are.
We’re engineering for the future of retail, and it’s no-holds-barred. But for those motivated by continual change and ambiguity, by superior leadership, by whip smart colleagues who will press you daily for your very best, you’ll find that virtually nothing’s impossible at Ulta Beauty.
THE IMPACT YOU CAN MAKE:
The Director, Product – Supply Chain Systems is a key leader within Enterprise Systems responsible for the Product organization within Logistics and Warehouse Operations (LOGWHO). The Director serves as the strategic bridge between Supply Chain, Finance, and Technology and owns the product vision, strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and outcomes for the Supply Chain Systems portfolio, including Warehouse Management, Warehouse Execution, Warehouse Control and Automation, Manifesting and Transportation Management capabilities.
This role is the strategic product leader for Supply Chain Systems responsible for delivering modern, data-driven distribution and transportation capabilities that enable Ulta to receive, store, fulfill, ship, and transport retail and direct-to-guest orders with speed, accuracy, reliability, and operational efficiency.
The Director ensures product strategy is aligned to Supply Chain outcomes such as throughput, productivity, inventory accuracy, order cycle time, service levels, capacity, reliability, and cost-to-serve.
YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
- Own and drive the multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Supply Chain Systems portfolio, spanning Warehouse Management, Warehouse Execution, Warehouse Control and Automation, Manifesting, Transportation Management, and related distribution and logistics capabilities, aligned to Ulta’s Supply Chain strategy and network growth objectives.
- Lead portfolio-level product planning and prioritization, translating Supply Chain and DC operational strategies into sequenced, outcome-based product roadmaps across multiple product teams and platforms.
- Define and own product Objectives and Key Results, KPIs, and performance measures for the LOGWHO portfolio, connecting technology investments to measurable outcomes such as throughput, productivity, inventory accuracy, order cycle time, service levels, capacity, reliability, and cost-to-serve.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain, DC Operations, Transportation, Finance, and Technology leaders to understand operational opportunities and pain points, shape future-state business processes, and translate them into enabling product capabilities.
- Lead product discovery and capability definition, ensuring business problems, associate and operational needs, process impacts, expected outcomes, and adoption requirements are clearly understood before solutions are designed and delivered.
- Partner with the Director of LOGWHO Engineering and Enterprise Architecture to translate product strategy and business capabilities into scalable technology solutions, maintaining alignment across product priorities, architecture, engineering capacity, delivery plans, and technical dependencies.
- Set product management standards and operating models across the LOGWHO portfolio, establishing consistent practices for discovery, prioritization, backlog management, delivery, adoption, measurement, and value realization.
- Serve as the senior Product leader for strategic LOGWHO technology partners, influencing vendor product roadmaps and ensuring future capabilities align with Ulta’s Supply Chain strategy, product priorities, and operational requirements.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a senior thought leader and advocate for product-led Supply Chain transformation, championing modern product practices and a culture of continuous improvement across business and technology teams.
- Build, scale, and develop a high-performing Product capability.
- Drive sustained product value realization across the full lifecycle, using operational analytics, associate feedback, adoption measures, and business outcomes to continuously optimize capabilities after deployment.
- Partner with Engineering and operational support leaders on major go-lives, peak readiness, stabilization, and recurring production issues so product priorities reflect operational risk, business impact, and long-term capability needs.
- Contribute to LOGWHO portfolio financial planning, business cases, investment recommendations, forecasts, and prioritization decisions in partnership with Supply Chain, Finance, and Engineering leadership.
ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- 12+ years of progressive technology, digital product, or supply chain systems experience, including significant product leadership responsibility for complex, business-critical platforms.
- Deep understanding of warehouse, distribution, transportation, and logistics operating processes and the technology capabilities that enable them.
- Experience creating and executing multi-year product visions, strategies, and roadmaps that deliver measurable business and operational outcomes.
- Experience building, leading, and developing product teams, including Product Managers, Product Owners, and Product Analysts, across multiple products or platforms.
- Experience with WMS, WES, WCS/warehouse automation, manifesting, and/or TMS capabilities; experience in high-volume retail or omnichannel distribution environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading product discovery, prioritization, requirements and capability definition, adoption, and value realization across large-scale transformation initiatives.
- Experience evaluating technology solutions and partner platforms for fit, viability, scalability, and alignment to business use cases and product strategy.
- Strong experience partnering with third-party technology providers and influencing vendor product roadmaps to support enterprise priorities.
- Exceptional ability to use operational, product, and user metrics to generate actionable insights, establish priorities, and measure product value.
- Ability to think strategically and tactically, balancing long-term product strategy with near-term delivery, operational needs, and changing business priorities.
