Job Description:
Role Overview
The Senior Production Artist turns creative concepts and brand systems into accurate, compelling, production-ready work across print, digital, social, and emerging channels. This hands-on role combines craft, technical expertise, quality control, and practical problem-solving to help teams deliver consistent work at scale—from initial adaptation through final release.
The Senior Production Artist partners with creative, account, strategy, media, digital, and production colleagues; contributes to efficient studio workflows; and helps uphold quality, accessibility, and brand integrity across every execution.
Key Responsibilities
Creative production and adaptation
- Build, adapt, and version campaign assets across print, digital, social, email, web, presentations, environmental, and experiential formats.
- Translate approved concepts and design systems into clear, accurate layouts for different placements, audiences, sizes, and specifications.
- Prepare mechanicals and production-ready files, including packaging, preflight, exports, linked assets, and handoff documentation.
- Support both high-volume adaptation work and select design execution, applying sound judgment while preserving the intent of the creative.
Quality, brand, and accessibility
- Review work for brand consistency, layout, typography, image quality, copy accuracy, legal and required elements, and technical specifications.
- Apply accessible design practices where relevant, including legible type, contrast, meaningful hierarchy, and platform-specific requirements.
- Manage versions carefully, incorporate feedback, flag discrepancies, and maintain clear production records to reduce errors and rework.
- Escalate risks, missing inputs, conflicting direction, or specification issues early and propose workable solutions.
Collaboration and workflow
- Partner with designers and creative leads to maintain fidelity to approved concepts while solving practical execution challenges.
- Coordinate with account, project management, digital, media, copy, and production partners to clarify requirements and meet delivery milestones.
- Organize and maintain working files and assets in shared systems according to naming, versioning, and archiving conventions.
- Contribute to workflow improvements, templates, checklists, and repeatable production practices; share technical knowledge with teammates.
- Use approved tools and responsible automation to improve efficiency while protecting client information and checking all outputs.
Role Scope and Working Relationships
Receives general direction from the Director of Studio Operations and/or Studio Lead. Independently manages assigned production work, communicates status and dependencies, and seeks review or guidance when scope, risk, or creative direction requires it. May provide day-to-day production guidance or quality feedback to teammates; this role is not necessarily a people-management position.
Qualifications
Required
- Substantial professional experience in graphic design or creative production, including complex, multi-format work; agency or in-house studio experience is valued.
- Advanced working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud applications relevant to production, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, color, image handling, file preparation, print production, and digital asset specifications.
- Ability to interpret brand standards and creative direction, adapt work accurately, and identify production issues before delivery.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and follow-through across concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Sound judgment under pressure; able to prioritize, work independently, ask clear questions, and adapt when plans change.
- Experience using shared file, review, or project-management systems and following established file-management practices.
Preferred
- Experience with digital production requirements for web, email, paid media, social platforms, and responsive or multi-placement asset delivery.
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS, content-management systems, digital asset management, and/or collaboration and proofing platforms.
- Experience with motion, video, presentation, or lightweight animation tools such as After Effects or Premiere Pro.
- Knowledge of accessibility considerations, direct-response or performance creative, and the production needs of regulated or detail-sensitive communications.
- A degree or equivalent training in graphic design, visual communication, advertising, or a related field; equivalent professional experience is also relevant.
Success in the Role
- Delivers accurate, polished work that is ready for its intended channel and audience.
- Keeps stakeholders informed, meets agreed milestones, and surfaces risks early.
- Protects brand consistency while making practical, thoughtful adaptations.
- Maintains organized files and reliable version control, reducing avoidable corrections.
- Contributes positively to team craft, workflow, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
