JOB SUMMARY
The ARIA Non-invasive Neurostimulation/Neuromodulation (NINM) Frontier Science Hub Initiative is a new multi-million dollar multi-year privately-funded research endeavor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, under the leadership of Vice Chair for Research Dr. Andrew Krystal. This ambitious initiative seeks to drive scientific innovation and develop transformative therapeutic solutions for individuals living with profound autism. As a high-profile, multi-institutional research venture, the ARIA NINM Frontier Science Hub spans a consortium of three leading universities—Yale, Stanford, and UCSF—and will support up to 15 new multi-site and department-based research programs. The Initiative will involve complex financial structures, including numerous subawards, subcontracts, and the active engagement of dozens of faculty Principal Investigators.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the ARIA NINM Frontier Science Hub Initiative by developing, implementing, and administering advanced financial, data and operational solutions for the program. The incumbent will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to establish and manage subcontracts and subawards, monitor the performance of new research programs, and analyze and upload data for data sharing to provide informed recommendations that guide the strategic financial direction of the ARIA NINM Frontier Science Hub. This role also involves preparing and presenting proposals, reports, and budgetary analyses to faculty leadership and funding partners, ensuring transparency and alignment with the initiative’s goals. Beyond financial oversight, the Senior Project Manager will coordinate and oversee policy and program communications for the ARIA NINM Frontier Science Hub, fostering effective collaboration both internally within UCSF and externally across the consortium. This includes developing strategic messaging and communication frameworks to ensure seamless integration and alignment across institutions.
The incumbent will also partner directly with the Vice Chair for Research and the department’s Research Leadership Team to establish, refine, and implement research policies, programs, and procedures that support the department’s research mission more broadly. The Research Leadership Team carries out projects across the following domains to benefit the department, which this position enables:
-
faculty oversight
-
research and grant administration
-
faculty recruitment
-
strategic development and planning
-
education and training
This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and partnerships in a dynamic research environment.
