About the job

At Hyatt, our people are at the heart of the guest experience. Thompson Dallas is part of Hyatt’s lifestyle portfolio, bringing together thoughtful design, food and beverage, cultural experiences and authentic service in Dallas’ historic Main Street District.

Food and beverage is central to the Thompson Dallas experience, with restaurants, bars, in-room dining, pool service, banquets and special events serving guests and locals throughout the hotel.

Thompson Dallas is seeking a Task Force Director of Food & Beverage for a temporary onsite assignment. This senior leader will provide hands-on operational direction across Food & Beverage, support colleagues and leaders, and help maintain thoughtful service, strong execution and sound financial performance.

This assignment is expected to begin as soon as possible in early November. The selected colleague must be available to commit to a minimum 30-day onsite assignment. Onsite accommodations and travel are provided for the duration of the assignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership across restaurants, bars, in-room dining, pool operations, banquets, events and other assigned Food & Beverage functions.

  • Partner with hotel leadership to assess operational needs, set priorities and support consistent service standards.

  • Lead, coach and develop Food & Beverage leaders and colleagues, promoting a positive, accountable and supportive work environment.

  • Support staffing, scheduling, labor management and productivity efforts based on business levels.

  • Monitor service execution, guest feedback and operational performance; address concerns and coordinate service recovery as needed.

  • Work closely with Culinary, Events, Sales, Rooms, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources and other departments to support a seamless guest experience.

  • Review departmental revenue, expenses, labor, purchasing, inventory and cost-control practices; identify practical opportunities to improve performance.

  • Support restaurant, bar, banquets and event operations, including outlet readiness, special events, VIP experiences and group business.

  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and applicable food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, safety and security standards.

  • Support implementation of hotel initiatives, operating procedures and other priorities as assigned.

  • Progressive Food & Beverage leadership experience in a full-service, lifestyle or luxury hotel required.

  • Prior Director of Food & Beverage, Assistant Director of Food & Beverage or comparable senior leadership experience preferred.

  • Hyatt Food & Beverage leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience overseeing multiple outlets and functions, including restaurants, bars, banquets and events.

  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with labor management, revenue, inventory, cost control and departmental budgets.

  • Proven ability to develop leaders, build effective teams and work collaboratively across hotel departments.

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong operational judgment, organization and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Availability to begin the assignment as soon as possible in early November and commit to a minimum 30-day onsite assignment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and move throughout restaurants, kitchens, banquet spaces and other hotel areas.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull and move supplies or equipment as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include heat, noise, crowds and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods.
