About the job
Description
We're hiring an entry-level apprentice carpenter — someone at the very start of the trade who wants to learn it properly, from demo day to punch list, in a small two-owner company where you'll work directly alongside an experienced carpenter every day, not get parked on a labor crew. We do kitchens, baths, fireplaces, and finish carpentry in occupied homes across Greater Sacramento (2025 NARI Remodeler of the Year, CSLB #1115328).
You don't need construction experience. You need to show up every single day, work hard and clean in someone's home, and want the trade as a career. We'll teach the rest.
What you'll do (this is the real job, day one)
- Demo, site protection, and site prep in occupied homes
- Material runs, jobsite organization, and end-of-day cleanup done to a professional standard
- Assist on framing, drywall, door sets, and finish work — earning your way into each phase hands-on
- Log your day in our project management system (JobTread)
What we need
- Reliability above everything: on time, every day, with a phone that answers. If something changes, you call before 7am — that's non-negotiable here.
- Basic hand tools (a tape, a hammer — a starter kit is fine) and a real plan to build out your kit from your paychecks. We provide all large, specialty, and trade-specific tools.
- Reliable transportation and a valid CA driver's license
- Care about working clean in a home the client is living in
What you get
- $18–20/hr to start, based on readiness. Raises are earned, on a schedule we put in writing: a review at 90 days and every six months after, with pay tied to the skills you can handle on your own — a defined ladder through $23+ and a real path to journeyman carpenter ($30+/hr).
- Weekly direct deposit
- Medical (Kaiser Gold 80) — PCI pays up to 75% of the base plan premium — plus Guardian dental/vision
- Paid sick leave, vacation, 7 paid holidays; 401(k) after 6 months
- Real training: you'll learn remodel carpentry one-on-one from people who won awards doing it
How we hire: short phone call → in-person interview → paid working day on a real jobsite → offer. The working day is paid whether or not we move forward.
