About the job
Introduction
At Gallagher Bassett, we're there when it matters most because helping people through challenging moments is more than just our job, it’s our purpose. Every day, we help clients navigate complexity, support recovery, and deliver outcomes that make a real difference in people’s lives. It takes empathy, precision, and a strong sense of partnership—and that’s exactly what you’ll find here. We’re a team of fast-paced fixers, empathetic experts, and outcomes drivers — people who care deeply about doing the right thing and doing it well. Whether you're managing claims, supporting clients, or improving processes, you’ll play a vital role in helping businesses and individuals move forward with confidence. Here, you’ll be supported by a culture that values teamwork, encourages curiosity, and celebrates the impact of your work. Because when you’re here, you’re part of something bigger. You’re part of a team that shows up, stands together, and leads with purpose.
How you'll make an impact
The Waypoint Product Owner drives the strategic direction and business success of the Waypoint product portfolio. You will translate market, client and operational needs into high-value product investments, and you will be accountable for prioritizing the initiatives that increase revenue, strengthen client value, improve operating performance, and accelerate adoption. You will serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams, owning the roadmap and backlog and working side by side with squads to deliver.
Key Responsibilities
-
Define and communicate the product vision, strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for the Waypoint portfolio.
-
Prioritize initiatives based on revenue impact, client value, operating performance and adoption, and make clear trade-offs among competing requests.
-
Build and maintain business cases and product KPIs, and track outcomes after release.
-
Own the product backlog: write and refine epics, features and user stories with acceptance criteria, run backlog refinement and sprint planning, and accept or reject delivered work.
-
Act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders (claims operations, client services, SIU and executive sponsors) and delivery teams (technical leads, data science, architecture, QA and business analysis).
-
Engage claims professionals and clients regularly to understand workflows and pain points and validate solutions through demos and user acceptance testing.
-
Partner with change management to plan training, communications and adoption, and report on product performance to senior leaders.
-
Collaborate with delivery leadership to plan capacity, funding and releases through GB's product and project governance process.
-
Participate in agile ceremonies and make timely scope and priority decisions to keep teams moving.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management or Engineering (or commensurate experience) and 7 years related product development experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of product ownership or product management experience, including owning a roadmap and backlog for a technology product.
- Demonstrated experience tying product decisions to revenue, client value or operating performance results, including building business cases and KPIs.
- Experience working in Agile delivery with cross-functional squads (writing user stories, backlog refinement, sprint planning, acceptance).
- Working knowledge of the insurance industry, ideally third-party administrator (TPA) or carrier claims, risk management or fraud.
- Ability to translate between business stakeholders and technical teams, with clear written and verbal communication.
- Experience managing senior stakeholders, including saying no or resetting expectations with data.
- Ability to work onshore in the U.S. and in the office on a partially scheduled basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in data science, computer science, or related business technical MBA
- Experience owning data, analytics, machine learning or AI-enabled products, including model explainability and user trust.
