About the job
Build your career in a role where your data discipline and project leadership directly improve how finance operations runs. You’ll partner across teams to simplify processes, strengthen controls, and deliver measurable outcomes.
As a Process Excellence Lead in Finance Operations, you lead data standardization and project-driven transformation across billing, collections, cash, and procurement workflows. You build clarity around data definitions, ownership, and controls, and you turn improvement opportunities into delivered change that improves accuracy, timeliness, and the client experience.
Job responsibilities
- Own and maintain a Finance Operations data matrix (key data elements, definitions, source systems, lineage, owners, quality checks, reporting outputs, and control points) across billing/AR, cash, and procurement domains.
- Establish a consistent KPI and reporting framework (e.g., billing accuracy, dispute cycle time, collections effectiveness, payment timeliness, reconciliation timeliness), including recurring performance updates to leadership.
- Identify, size, and prioritize process improvement opportunities; convert them into a structured pipeline (problem statement, root cause, expected benefits, dependencies, and timeline).
- Lead cross-functional projects from intake through delivery (requirements, process mapping, risk/control impacts, testing, cutover, and post-implementation performance tracking).
- Drive root-cause analysis for recurring billing discrepancies, interface errors, reconciliation breaks, and payment issues; recommend policy/workflow changes to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with Finance Operations leaders to ensure initiatives align with operational standards, internal controls, audit readiness, and confidentiality expectations.
- Support continuous improvement in operational execution by standardizing procedures, enabling documentation, and ensuring teams have clear guidance for exceptions and escalations.
- Coordinate with stakeholders (e.g., account management, billing teams, procurement/AP, cash management, systems teams) to improve end-to-end process performance and client experience.
- Contribute to strategic planning and periodic reviews by providing data-driven insights, trend analysis, and recommendations.
- Assist with various special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed or assigned.
- Demonstrate Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Communication, Commitment and Delivering the Unexpected.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
-
5+ years of relevant experience in finance operations (billing/AR, cash/reconciliations, AP/procurement, close support, or adjacent operations).
-
The role requires strong finance operations knowledge plus data orientation and structured project execution capability.
-
Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; comfort working across multiple finance systems and data sources.
-
Demonstrated ability to define data, create repeatable reporting, and translate operational activity into actionable insights.
-
Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting concepts.
-
Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and drive execution under deadlines.
-
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to facilitate alignment across teams.
-
High attention to detail, strong judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- GAAP/SOX and audit interaction knowledge preferred (as applicable).
