Asphalt Paving Foreperson

Preferred Materials, Inc., a CRH company, is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreperson to lead a high-performing paving crew in delivering quality roadway and infrastructure projects throughout the region. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily paving operations, ensuring a safe work environment, driving productivity, and developing crew members while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do
As the Asphalt Paving Foreperson, you will:

Lead and direct daily asphalt paving operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Plan and organize work activities, manpower, equipment, trucking logistics, and material requirements.

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and CRH safety programs.

Coordinate daily production activities with asphalt plant, trucking, and operations teams to ensure seamless material delivery and jobsite execution.

Monitor crew performance, equipment utilization, and paving quality to maximize productivity and project success.

Coach, train, and mentor employees on proper paving techniques, equipment operation, maintenance, and safe work practices.

Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety documentation requirements.

Oversee equipment inspections and maintenance needs, coordinating repairs as necessary.

Manage employee schedules, time reporting, and workforce planning.

Maintain accurate production records, daily reports, and project documentation.

Build strong working relationships with operations leadership, customers, and support teams.

Assist with hands-on paving and labor activities when needed.

Communicate project updates, challenges, and opportunities to the Asphalt Paving & Milling Superintendent.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum 5 years of asphalt paving experience.

Demonstrated experience leading field crews in paving, road construction, or heavy civil operations.

Strong understanding of paving operations, production planning, and equipment utilization.

Working knowledge of OSHA/MSHA safety regulations and safe work practices.

Ability to read and understand project specifications, schedules, and production requirements.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Previous foreperson, lead operator, or supervisory experience.

Experience coordinating trucking, asphalt plant production, and paving operations.

Familiarity with DOT specifications and roadway construction projects.
