Summary

Coordinates and dispatches customer orders to company truck drivers, lease haulers, and quarry locations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of materials. Serves as a primary point of contact for customers, drivers, internal departments, and external customers while maintaining a high level of customer service and operational support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take, enter, and manage customer orders.

  • Assign orders to quarries and coordinate truck assignments.

  • Coordinate deliveries between company trucks, lease haulers, and quarries.

  • Dispatch orders and communicate messages, schedule changes, and special instructions.

  • Serve as a liaison between drivers, customers, quarries, and internal departments.

  • Perform payroll entry and attendance-related tasks.

  • Travel to other sites to provide operational support as needed.

  • Maintain flexibility in work schedules to ensure adequate department coverage.

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Use dispatching systems, phones, computers, and business software effectively.

  • Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with internal and external customers by phone, electronically, or in person.

  • Regular and predictive attendance is an essential function of the job.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Dispatcher coordinates transportation activities and communicates with company truck drivers and lease haulers but does not directly supervise employees or perform hiring, disciplinary, performance management, or other supervisory functions.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatching, customer service, or a related field preferred. Must be comfortable using computers, phones, Microsoft Office applications, and company software systems to manage operations and produce reports.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with company truck drivers, lease haulers, customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret charts and graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and work effectively in situations where priorities may change rapidly. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.

Physical Demands

While performing job duties, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, reach, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision.
