About the job

Overview

We’re hiring a Fitter II to join our Fabrication team working with mechanical components and plate fabrications. You’ll fit, lay out, and assemble parts from engineering drawings and specs, working independently on routine and moderately complex assignments while keeping quality and safety front and center.

What Makes This Opportunity Great

  • Real Ownership: Work independently on your own fit-up assignments, from layout through verification, before parts move to welding or final assembly.
  • Skill Development: Apply blueprint-reading and layout experience across plate, structural shapes, brackets, and mechanical components.
  • Work With a Full Team: Partner with welders, machinists, and quality control to make sure assemblies meet spec.

Compensation

  • $23.00–$28.00/hr

Shift

  • 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
  • Friday: 1:00 PM–9:30 PM

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication blueprints, and assembly prints.
  • Perform mechanical and plate fitting, including layout, alignment, and assembly of components.
  • Measure, mark, cut, bevel, and prepare materials for fabrication and welding.
  • Fit plates, structural shapes, brackets, stiffeners, and mechanical components to required dimensions.
  • Verify dimensions, squareness, hole locations, and alignment before releasing work for welding or final assembly.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, clamps, fixtures, and fitting aids safely and correctly.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies, material issues, and fit-up problems and report them to the supervisor.
  • Work with welders, machinists, and quality control to make sure assemblies meet specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Complete assigned work within production schedules while minimizing errors and rework.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial fabrication, mechanical fitting, or plate fitting.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and mechanical prints.
  • Knowledge of measurements, tolerances, layout, and basic shop math.
  • Experience with common fabrication tools and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work independently on routine and moderately complex fitting assignments.
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to producing quality work.
