At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
EY is a global leader in serving the financial services marketplace and the only professional services firm with a separate business unit dedicated to the financial services industry—the Financial Services Organization (FSO). Our integrated model and bold ambition allow us to stay at the center of industry transformation, working with clients across Banking and Capital Markets, Wealth and Asset Management and Insurance to address strategic, operational and technology-driven change.
Within EY Technology Consulting, we help asset and wealth management firms design, modernize and scale their digital and data ecosystems, spanning the entire investment value chain. If you are passionate about translating business needs into product capabilities and technology solutions, and driving innovation across traditional and alternative investments, this role provides an opportunity to help define the future of financial services platforms.
The opportunity
As part of EY's Wealth and Asset Management Technology practice, you'll support private equity and alternative investment clients as they modernize product capabilities, operating processes, data and technology platforms. You will work with client product owners, operations teams, investment professionals, finance stakeholders, designers, architects and engineers to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
Your work will span product analysis, business process design, requirements definition, data analysis, testing and agile delivery. You will independently own defined areas of a workstream, facilitate stakeholder discussions and help delivery teams build solutions that improve investment operations, portfolio monitoring, fund accounting, investor servicing and reporting.
Your key responsibilities
-
Own analysis and delivery activities for defined product or business workstreams, with guidance from Managers and Senior Managers.
-
Facilitate stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs and requirements workshops with private equity business, operations, finance, data and technology teams.
-
Document current-state and future-state processes, pain points, business requirements, functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
-
Translate business needs into prioritized product capabilities and a well-structured backlog in partnership with product owners and delivery teams.
-
Analyze workflows and data across fundraising, deal execution, portfolio monitoring, fund accounting, capital activity, valuations, investor servicing and reporting.
-
Apply business process design techniques to develop current-state and future-state process maps, business rules, operating controls and detailed functional requirements.
-
Develop source-to-target mappings that document source fields, target fields, transformations, business rules, validation logic and data quality requirements.
-
Support the design and validation of conceptual and logical data models for fund, investor, portfolio company, transaction and performance data.
-
Support product discovery by synthesizing user needs, evaluating options and helping define minimum viable product scope and release priorities.
-
Work closely with architects, designers, developers and data engineers to clarify requirements, resolve questions and confirm that proposed solutions meet business needs.
-
Develop test scenarios and scripts, coordinate user acceptance testing, document defects and validate that delivered capabilities meet acceptance criteria.
-
Prepare clear client-ready materials, status updates, decision points and recommendations for workstream leadership.
-
Contribute to EY practice development through reusable assets, market research, proposals and knowledge sharing related to private markets products and platforms.
Skills and attributes for success
-
Working knowledge of private markets (private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure) and alternative investment processes, products, operating models, data and reporting needs.
-
Strong business analysis and product analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, user story development, backlog refinement and acceptance criteria.
-
Ability to structure ambiguous problems, connect business needs to technology capabilities and communicate findings clearly.
-
Experience working in agile delivery environments and participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations and retrospectives.
-
Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to profile, reconcile, interpret and validate operational, investment and financial data using SQL, Excel or business intelligence tools.
-
Working knowledge of data modeling, including entities, attributes, relationships, reference data and conceptual and logical data models.
-
Ability to create and validate source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, data definitions and reconciliation requirements.
-
Strong business process design skills, including process decomposition, workflow analysis, control design and future-state process definition.
-
Strong written, verbal, presentation and client service skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and escalate risks or dependencies promptly.
To qualify for the role you must have
-
A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, information systems, computer science, engineering or a related field and approximately 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
-
Experience as a business analyst, business systems analyst, product analyst, product owner or similar role within financial services, asset management, alternative investments or consulting.
-
Experience supporting at least one phase of the product or technology delivery life cycle, including discovery, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation or adoption.
-
Demonstrated ability to create high-quality requirements, process documentation, user stories, test materials and client presentations.
-
Willingness and ability to travel based on client needs, and to hold a valid driver's license and passport.
Ideally, you'll also have
-
Experience with private equity, private credit, real estate or infrastructure investment operations.
-
Familiarity with platforms such as Investran, eFront, Allvue, Geneva, DealCloud, LemonEdge, Dynamo, iLEVEL, 73 Strings, Yardi, Salesforce, Snowflake or Databricks.
-
Experience with fund administrator data, portfolio company data, capital activity, valuations, performance reporting or investor reporting.
-
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, Power BI or Tableau.
-
Certifications in business analysis, product ownership, agile delivery, cloud or data analytics.
